Timing of 3rd DTaP etc vaccinations

Hi, I'm new to posting on MN (been reading for ages)and really would like thoughts/summary of any research you've done on this.....

Does anybody have any evidence about best time to give third set of baby jabs? ds' are due in 2 weeks time and my gut feeling is that I don't want him to have 3 jabs at once (2 is bad enough!) Normally this wouldn't be a problem, I'd just book another appointment a couple of weeks later but I'm going on holiday for a month 4 days after jabs are due (this will be 28 days after 2nd set), so these are the questions I'm trying to find some answers to;

why do they recommend 3 jabs at once - is it for convenience or is there some sound evidence that they need to be done at once?

Any idea how long the earlier jabs give protection for? Other countries have different schedules and seem to have 2 month gaps between jabs. This is the point that I'm really having trouble with - which country is right?

I'm tempted to get his 3rd DTaP/Hib, 2nd Pneumococcal and leave the 2nd Men C til I get back (ds will be 51/2 months then). Any evidence why this would be a bad move? Is ds at risk of contracting Men C for the extra month or does the 1st jab cover him for a while?

Should I stop being paranoid and just get all 3 done at once? His reaction to previous jabs seem to have been unsettled crying for a few hours after jabs and more sicking up than usual for a couple of days after jabs.

I did try asking the nurse but just got the standard party line; I've tried doing my own research on the internet, but am finding it hard to find anything helpful.

Phew, this is way longer than it was supposed to be, thanks for reading this far!!

It's not that the earlier jabs don't give protection more that after the 1st jab something like 80% of babies are protected, after 2 jabs, 90% etc (I am just guessing the %, but hope you get what I mean)

I think they just do 3 jabs at once for convenience, they don't need to be given at the same time

Thanks very much Pistachio, you've pretty much confirmed what I suspected about nobody knowing the right answer! I get so frustrated with some of this stuff, I guess cos I'm a scientist I want proof (stamps foot )
Think I'll go with my original thoughts and delay Men C til I get back from hols; now up for a fight with nurse on Monday I guess........
