My dd (2.8) was pescribed amoxcillin on Tuesday because of high temps, bad sinus blood tinged mucus, headache and general unwellness. She is had 2 full days of the anti-biotics but the only thing that has gone is the high temps. Should i give it more time to work before phoning the doctor do you think?

My other children have now started with it but not as bad, but they have eye infections with it!!!

Typical half term week for me, mine ALWAYS get ill in the holidays, it's like because the routine of school changes or something!!

Usually 48 hrs and they're working but my gp told me sinusitis is the slowest as they have to get into the small nasal passages which are full of gunk.If she is no better by tomorrow I would go back as the tablets may be the wrong ones for her particular infection.Have you tried steaming? It really helps xx

Some types of antibiotics don't start to work until you finish the course (I'm thinking Amoxacillin should start working before that though as I've had quite a few times and noticed a difference after a couple of days (perhaps 3 though). I'd take her back (or ring gp) if she gets a lot worse or shows allergy signs but if not, it should work after the course if not before.

Ok, thanks for your info, it has stoped the high temperatures so perhaps they are starting, its the mucusy yuckiness every time i look at her that is driving me and her mad!...lol

Will give it until tmrw afternoon to see if there is anymore improvement with it all.

Being watching for allergy as me and my other daughter are both allergic to penicillin, but i think the rash would have come up by now.

Thank-you
