I been through many infections and antibotics in the past 2 months. I started off with a uti which the doc prescribed me with smz/tmp 800 - 160 mg. By the first few days I been taken it, I have had server dirrariha, very painful headache that last all day everyday until the effect wore of for another pill. Very nauseated and upset stomach. I bought yogert, probotics and nothing work so I talk to the doctor to switch me to a different one which if nitrofurantion mono hyd mocro. All the same symptoms including lost of appetite but the headaches was finally gone. So I pushed through it till all them were gone. Few day later felt fine but the nausea, dirrariha was still there followed by mucus in stool. Turns out it gave me c-diff. Yay me...so more rounds of antibotic metronidazole 500 mg and the same damn pill smz/tmp ds 800-160 mg both be taken at the same time. I ate hoping to be ok but boom as soon as I took them a hour later nausea, throwing up, headaches, watery yellow stool with no solid part at all, just pores like water, I thought I poisoned myself so had to be rushed the the er at 9pm had to be hooked to a iv, run a few test and all that could say was to switch meds again that I prob had a allergic reaction to them and to be put on bed rest for a few. I am so worried the new one might cause the same effects and I don't want that. I need to work but also don't want to be there rushing to the bathroom every few mins feeling like I'm going to vomit or diarrhea v.v any advice at all, I am losing weight and dyhidracted can eat without feeling sick idk what to do anymore. V.V

If you had an allergic reaction to the first lot, google them and find out what family of antibiotics they are. Then avoid that family and you will avoid the side effects (probably). Try and take them on a full stomach and avoid too much dairy.

Agree with other poster, have had similar problems. Take the antibiotics with food, so half a sandwich, take pill, each other half of sandwich. You could also switch to a very low fat, low dairy diet except for live natural yoghurt. I found following a version of the BRAT diet helped, look up online, together with boiled eggs and other bland 'white' foods, so cut out roughage and high fibre food, no brown bread/brown rice etc...If you eat meat then grilled plain chicken or turkey or plain poached fish.

Ty so much. I will do just that. Maybe it will put my mind at ease. Smile
