Early morning severe headache, feeling faint/dizzy, v.low bp...? any connection?

I've always had low blood pressure (100/70 ish)although ironically I got pre-eclampsia with pg. 2 years ago... Since I got back to normal (which took 6 months post-birth) I've had the same bp, but more recently (for 2 months?) I've been more around 100/60-65. I know this might not be useful, but thought I'd mention. - I've only got a bp monitor and been taking it because of pg. experience. I don't usually take it!
Since returning from a charity trek in the desert (v.hard work, but came back not particularly wiped) I've been feeling dizzy/faint quite often, although this was mostly straight after my return, and I thought was dehydration.
for the last 10 days I've been woken by a really splitting headache early in the morning - 5am ish - which just will not quit, until I've taken prescriptions painkillers (diclofenac) left over from lower back problem last year....
Today it's barely gone - but of course I can't take anything else. Seemed to have a focal point behind the eye for a couple of hours at lunch...
First time at the PC, but thought one of you will know something helpful!
PS Had a few migraines as a teenager, doesn't really feel like that - well not like my experience of it anyway.

Sorry, long post!

I thought diclofenac was a muscle relaxant (DH on it) possible tension headaches? Worried about something?

Jackaroo · 30/05/2007 17:16

No, my understanding is that it is a kind of ibuprofen ........

No more tensions than normal!

OK, so I just had another fainty moment, so thought, my bp must be low at this point.. nope.

Any other ideas? I just don't want to go to the doctor with these random symptoms which could be stress (although nothing has changed, if anything got easier)... when it's so difficult to get an appt.!

Anaemia can cause all the symptoms you are describing. Maybe you should ask for a blood test?

pickledpear · 30/05/2007 22:04

could you of picked something up from holiday worth a trip to docs in the morning- IMO

imaginaryfriend · 30/05/2007 22:09

I've suffered on and off with headaches for ages and I also have low blood pressure. I was always told that a headache which wakes you up is always worth checking out so you could go to the GP and stress that at least? Does your headache get worse when you bend down or cough? If it does I'd definitely get it checked. It could turn out to be nothing but I'd want a GP's opinion if I were you.

Jackaroo · 31/05/2007 12:39

Thanks MNers, mm, guess I'll get that appt. then.
I can't remember the last time I coughed, but certainly bending down to pick up DS doesn't help but I try to avoid doing that when it's at it's worst....and I had a blood test recently as part of being a medical research guinea pig.. everything very normal ......

I think something like 80% of headaches turn out to be 'tension headaches', this one just sounded slightly worrying because I know they list as one of the things to take more seriously a headache that wakes you from sleep. Not a headache you wake up with but one that wakes you. How was it today?

Jackaroo · 01/06/2007 16:19

Sorry, didn't see you before IF, it has been the same, yesterday and today. I@m being rubbish, but because for once I'm slightly nervy about this, I've not yet rung the doctor. Mm., will see how I feel after a weekend of camping !
Thanks for asking.

I would go to the doctor It may be something to do with your eyes Do you wear glasses?

imaginaryfriend · 01/06/2007 16:49

Jackaroo, I know what you mean, you kind of don't want to go in case they scare you! I remember going with one of my horrible headaches (about a year ago I had them almost constantly) to a different GP to my normal one and she rushed me off to A&E for a CT scan. I was petrified. It didn't show anything thank goodness. I've since been seeing a nurologist to get to the bottom of it and it seems that it's likely to be a problem with the nerves in my neck.

When did you start getting them?

Jackaroo · 04/06/2007 00:05

Call off the dogs, IF, I think i've worked out the problem, even if I feel stupid admitting it. It appears that DH (Or just H?) and I are heading for a meltdown (and we were the sort of "voted most likely to last" couple) and I suspect that I've been assuming that talking rather than covering everything up has been a good thing....
I suspect that now it's looking like it "really" is a problem, my headache was a sign I knew that really, even before I was ready to say it outloud (and this is that moment
So, that requires a whole different post I suspect double

So officially probably a stress headache? Does the admitting of the problem see an alleviation to the problem then?

Bekks · 04/06/2007 21:20

Maybe other things going on too - doesn't explain dizziness etc., but stick cluster headaches into the nhs direct website, the same time every day thing fits and also they come on when seasons change.
