Knee pain for a few weeks now - osteopath or physiotherapist?

I can't get a doctor's appointment for weeks but would like someone to tell me what's wrong and the best way to fix it.

Which is likely to be better? I've used osteopaths for back pain before so not sure why I'm hesitating over using one for my knee.

Thanks

I have used an osteopath for back pain. I currently have knee pain and am seeing a physio. I am not sure why but somehow i feel that physio is better qualified to sort out joint things. She has given me exercises for my knee whereas the osteo just tends to do manipulation which i can't imagine would be the right thing for this knee issue.

That's my thinking as well Apollo. My back/pelvis needed to be manipulated to release tension and realign joints. The thought of my knees being twisted around... No thanks. But I don't know if that's unfair.

An osteo might be able to help by detecting other imbalances in the body that could result in improper function of the knee. A physiotherapist might be able to do this but also give you exercises to help fix those imbalances in the body long term. I always think as osteopathy as a short term fix, but physio is more than a sticking plaster iyswim.

def physio.

Thanks both. I'm hoping the physio will look for other issues as well (high arches) so I'll try that this time.
