Has anyone had gut type issues resolved?

There is something wrong with my digestive system but I don’t know what. My main problem is severe bloating. By the end of the day I look heavily pregnant. Im not over weight so it literally looks like a baby bump. It feels uncomfortable.

Iv tried low fodmap, had various pills for ‘ibs’ but they didn’t make a difference. I’m not convinced it is ibs. I don’t get constipated and rarely diarrhoea although maybe once or twice a week I will empty my bowels 2 or 3 times a day. I can’t eat masses in one go, although I don’t think that’s necessarily a problem. I know it will be particularly bad with pain and bloating when I eat dairy or wheat heavy meals eg lasagna or pizza. I know that for some reason potatoes really hurt my stomach aswell so try to avoid them. Iv spent time off wheat and dairy in the past but Iv never ever felt ‘good’. If you can understand what I mean? I’m also taking good bacteria tablets. I want to go back to the doctors but will take a few weeks to get one and id like to try all the things they would advise to do before I go? Can anyone help?

The other thing that has really helped me actually is moving to a Doctor's practice that is walking distance from my house.

I used to have to do a 90 minute round trip for a trip to my GP so could only go when I was feeling really well, but now I have a 6 minute walk each way. My new GP always runs exactly to time, which really helps. It means that I can present myself when I'm at my lowest ebb, and he can actually see what I mean by the problem.

For example one time recently I did a tiny food test outside of my exclusion diet and couldn't eat afterwards for three days. Since my GP was so close by I was able to go and show him what that looks like (dopey, forgetting words, thirsty and so on), and then he seemed to understand the problem much better.

I often suggest our diet when people complain of gut problems. We follow something called the Hay diet, which essentially boils down to not eating meat/protein in the same meal as carbohydrates (because they are digested differently and the clash in the stomach can cause indigestion/bloating)
Foods are classed as either a protein, a carb or neutral things like veg and salad can be eaten with anything.
Hence our typical carb meals are salad sandwiches, veggie pasta/lasagne, veggie curry with rice, veggie pizza.
A protein meal would be meat/fish but with veg or salad - no potatoes, rice, pasta, bread.
Another key part is to really reduce/stop processed meals.
My other half did it as he has a weak digestive system and its the only thing that has worked. I fell into it as didn't want to do separate meals but realised I felt better and could eat without calorie counting. (Its supposed to help you lose weight if overweight and gain it if underweight)
It takes some getting used to and a bit of trial and error, but once you ere in the habit its really easy. Yes certain combinations of food are stopped but nothing is completely forbidden. So my old favorite of fish and chips takeaway is now either a fish and mushy peas, or a chip butty...

Bit extreme but I had my stomach and duodenum removed to resolve my problems.

Arm yes a little extreme even for me!

Interesting about the carbs thing... I can’t eat high carbs... iv put it down to a wheat intolerance. Maybe there’s something else to it.

I’m definitely going to look in to alternatives to quorn and reducing dramatically my processed intake!

That Hay Diet sounds great. I hadn't heard of that.
