12 days post birth - still feeling awdul

3rd DC, had a normal vaginal birth with no issues, a couple of stitches but nothing serious.
I literally feel like i’ve been hit by a bus! Aching all over, after pains in tummy after each feed, and feel like my insides might fall out at any time Blush
Has anyone else felt like this? I’m putting it down to my age (39) but it’s getting on for 2 weeks now, and i’m struggling. I was out and about after 3 days with DS2 but I’m feeling awful.

Have you taken your temperature? If it's raised, you could have an infection that needs treating.

Could be age or it could be an infection like pp has said. I know I didn't feel 100% 2 weeks after giving birth and I was 26 and 1st birth, by that stage I was still bleeding quite a bit, exhausted, sweating profusely, thirsty as hell etc (breastfeeding). They do say after birth pains are worse with each child though I'm not sure why.

Poor you. Could it be retained products? Maybe ask your midwife/health visitor/GP if you need an ultrasound scan to check?

Congratulations on your new baby. Hope you feel better soon.

I felt like this after both my relatively straightforward births. I am always shocked to the point of disbelief when I see people walking around a few days later. I don't know why but it took me a few weeks to be able to even go out much and I was walking very very slowly and holding the sturdy pram as though it was a zimmerframe!

So I can't say there's no underlying issues for you, more that there aren't necessarily. Just take the time to rest and eat well though, because not doing that will cause more problems later!

I definitely found the afterpains felt much worse with each birth, but two weeks is a long time. I agree with PP that you need to check your temp, but even if it’s normal it would be worth a chat with your midwife or GP.

I felt like I'd been hit by a bus with both my births. My body felt wrecked, I could barely walk, get up from the sofa from aching all over.

With my second I had a huge diastasis recti which is why it felt like my insides were going to fall out. Was 39 as well, don't think age helps tbh
