Hi there all,
New to mumsnet here hope this is the right place to post.
Well as the title says my LO was due her 2nd dose of immunisations today only the nurse gave her her 3rds instead! I was fuming and am very worried. She said she would phone the immunisation team to find out what needs to be done next and if there's anything to be concerned about but I just wanted to post and ask incase anyone had had something like this happen to them and what they did or had to do next with regards to the course of the vaccines. I tried to google but cannot find anything. Im so annoyed at myself for not asking her to confirm first what was going to be done.
So she had her Pneumococcal and Men B (2nd dose) 4 weeks too early plus the rota virus and the 6 in 1. Would this mean she would still need a 3rd dose of the 6 in 1 to complete the course? Or start from scratch because the order was messed up?

Sorry haven't got any advice but didn't want you to go unanswered. Have you asked your health visitor about this? They should be able to tell you if there's any concerns. Hopefully not and the little one is alright.

I would call PALS and report that nurse. They deal with complaints about nhs staff. Look them up on google and search for your local team.

Sorry I can't offer any other advice xx

6 in 1 is same at 12 and 16 weeks so it’s not an issue with that one just the other two which might have to be redone at 16 weeks as well. It depends what the minimum wait time is supposed to be between doses.

I'm sorry to read your baby was given the wrong imms. I hope he/she is ok in themselves and you are too.
The 6-in-1 is the sane at 8,12 and 16 weeks
The rotavirus is the same at 8 and 12 weeks
So those two are fine to be given
Rotavirus is not given at 16 weeks unless missed at 12 weeks.
Men b and pneumococcal are given at 8 and 16 weeks so you Baby was given those 4 weeks early. All that will happen is that they will need to be given again at 16 weeks. The ones given at 8 weeks will have started making the body make antibodies and the boosters are given to increase the levels of these antibodies as the initial dose effect starts to wear off. The timings of the boosters are as a result of research and are to be given then to time in with the dip in antibody production.
The menB vaccine is 'live' so will cause a temperature in your baby more than likely. Give Calpol every 4-6 hr for 3 doses , starting ASAP after vaccine was given.
I very much doubt there'll be any further action required regarding the vaccines other than just having them again in 4 weeks time.
The nurse will have filled out an incident slip, and a significant event form will have been completed which gets sent to her manager and will be discussed at the surgery meeting (possibly) and certainly with her and her manager. It gets logged with QCQ too.
