Blood test results help please/fatty liver disease

I have taken a snap shot of my latest blood test results below. Please help me understand these and advise me if their is anything I can do to improve them/my health. I have an under active thyroid, asthma, positive anti gastric parietal cell antibodies (whatever this is?) and fatty liver with the area of fatty sparing. I have had blood cancer a goodly few years ago.

My haematologist says my ALT levels have been grumbling on, on the high side for 5 years now. So in the letter he has said he suspects fatty liver disease? I did go a bit mad with drink in my single days many many years ago. But most weeks I am lucky if DH and I share a bottle of wine sometimes we don’t have any and about 4 times a year at most I meet up with some old friends socially and I admit we do have a great time and we do hit the wine for one night. The haematologist hasn’t given me any guidance could this be why I have fatty liver disease or because I am over weight or a combination of reasons? I am trying to loose weight slowly and exercise more. I am supposed to be seeing some boozy friends this Friday should I not drink at all or try and just get away with a couple of glasses of wine? I feel quite depressed now on reading this letter.

Thanks

The positive parietal cell antibodies could indicate that you have pernicious anaemia.

What are your B12 levels? If not, you need to get them tested, preferably along with MMA, homocysteine and intrinsic factor antibodies. Ask your haemotologist if they will do this as your GP is only likely to run a B12 test. Failing that you can get them done privately for under £100.

I can't comment on the rest sorry.

Thanks 9amTrain - I will email the haematologist as to whether he has requested the other tests you mention. I have been tested for B12 many years ago and the GP messed up and ordered tests in the wrong order or something. Eventually after many blood tests it started off being a cause for concern and my symptoms did fit and I had awful v heavy periods but then I was told it was either ok or borderline so weren’t going to treat it at that time. I am now Peru or menopausal.

I don’t know if it’s visible on the photo but he has said LDH normal, CRP and TSH normal the latter I think is thyroid.

Often "normal" is not actually normal due to outdated or too vast lab ranges, for example.

Especially with thyroid, vitamins and minerals you could have well below optimal levels of B12, vitamin D, folate, ferritin and a suboptimal TSH but they will tell you you're absolutely fine yet you're exhausted and your hair is falling out...

What's your TSH level? Did they test FT4? Those two labs are still not the full picture of thyroid function but the results are more obscure the less they test. TSH alone can be meaningless.

Thanks 9amTrain very informative. I have no idea. I only have bloods tests taken for what the hematlogist has ordered but I don’t know whether he has ran out of space on the letter or whether he did actually do those tests.
I don’t feel anywhere near as exhausted as I have felt in the past and I do loose hair in the shower when combing conditioner through it mainly because it is curly/tatty gets very dry and tangly.

Sounds like NASH, not uncommon condition, a lot can be done to improve it. Taking more exercise is a top thing you can do today to reduce.

Thanks lljkk - Thats really helpful as well. I have lost 2 stone since Christmas through healthy eating reducing sugar carbs and alcohol. I also joined a gym at Easter and bought a FITBIT so I am more motivated to increase my exercise and get fitter/healthier but obviously the small in roads I have made so far have barely scratched the surface and I still have a long way to go.
