Can't take full breath. Anxiety? Something else?

This used to happen to me fairly frequently but hasn't plagued me for ages, until yesterday.

I'm breathing fine, in that I'm not struggling for breath but I feel a constant urge to take a good, deep breath. However, when I try, it's not satisfying, like my lungs aren't big enough. It's making me want to yawn.

I'm not in any pain and feel otherwise fine. I'm early 30's, not overweight and have no known health issues.

The only lifestyle changes I've made in the last few weeks are stopping the contraceptive pill after many years, and I started running again (I don't have any breathing issues when running).

Google says anxiety, asthma or heart failure. Can you have anxiety without knowing? I don't think I feel anxious, but maybe I am? I'd like to think I'm not about to drop dead.

Anyone experienced this or have any thoughts?

I will of course go to the GP if it doesn't resolve but I feel like a time waster at the moment.

I had this on and off and it was quite disconcerting. The doctor sent me up all kinds of blind alleys, and I am sure he thought I was malingering, until finally he sent me for spirometry. Why he did not do that first I have no idea. Anyway, spirometry showed significant narrowing of the airways and I was put on an inhaler.

This was my first symptom of Superior Vena Cava Obstruction. A cancerous tumour causing it. Get a chest X-ray.

I’m very sorry to hear that... this concerns me because my mother passed from a brain tumor. We’re there in other early symptoms besides just trouble breathing? What kind of doctor did you see to get this chest x ray? Hope you are well, keep fighting

I had this then found out my iron stores were really low (below the charts) not sure if it's related or not x

There is a lung disease called lam that is thought to be linked to oestrogen. It's rare and worth asking your doctor about it, if you are still getting short of breath with no explanation.

I’ve had this in varying degrees all my life, my mother daughter and niece also. It went away completely for several years when I lost a lot of weight through restricting carbs. I’m now a bit fatter and relaxed on the carbs and it’s back! Make of that what you will. My dp who is a dr says it’s not a sinister symptom.
