Abdo discomfort, feeling lost

Hi everyone,

Here for a handhold I guess...

I've had abdominal pain and discomfort for about three months now. Have been to GP several times who seems convinced it's constipation, even though there are no changes in bowel movements.

I feel I have lost weight, and the tightness I feel in the right hand side of abdomen and pain behind rib cage seems worse.

My white blood cell count has been consistently low, but with no other symptoms they sent me home with stool softeners...

Waiting for next blood test on Tuesday, and then follow up appointment a week later.

Have spent this morning googling and crying. I have read too many similar experiences of this online, not to jump to the worst conclusions. Struggling.

Don't even know what I'm asking, sorry. Anyone had similar symptoms?

I had similar pain on the right behind my rib cage before being diagnosed with coeliac disease. Pretty common it seems

Thank you @buggedby

Dr Google is not my friend today!

Sorry to hear that. Are you constipated?

No change in bowel habits is a positive if you're worried about bowel cancer. What is the blood test for?

MrsMyreton · 08/07/2018 22:16

I don't think I'm constipated. Even when I was initially prescribed the stool softener I was still once a day (tmi overload from me today, sorry).

The blood test was for something totally unrelated that I just mentioned as an after thought when in for my pill renewal appointment. I had a numb area on my toe and she wanted to check for vitamin deficiency (which I didn't have and toe now fine!). But that was what initially flagged up white blood cells.

Thank you for chatting @buggedby Today has been rough, but this has helped.

I had numb areas on my toes with before my coeliac diagnosis! Was very strange and effected the tip of my big toes. Luckily the peripheral neuropathy has gone since being gluten free.

White blood cells are often raised due to infection and often nothing to worry about, probably just random that they found it.

If your going daily and the stool is soft then it's not constipation. The Bristol stool chart is a useful guide. Keep going back if you're not happy. I went to the gp monthly for a year with my abdomen pain before being taken seriously.

Hope you feel better soon.

Interesting @buggedby thank you, that's not something I've considered.

Took myself off to the docs this morning, and have been referred for scans and investigations. Also had more blood tests. The waiting for results and the not knowing is awful. So tired today.
