What is this bite?

Got bitten on my arm in the middle of the night last night. I remember itching it and daring to my husband “something’s bitten me”. I could feel a small bump then too.
Anyway throughout the day it’s got progressively worse.
It’s a circle about 3cm diameter so much bigger than a normal mozzie bite (I’ve had 3 normal mozzie bites this week to compare)
It’s a big red circle, raised so much that if you look at my arm sideways on you can see a raised mound.
It’s hot and itchy, although not as itchy as a mozzie bite.
I can feel it radiating heat.
What could it be?
Husband said horse fly, but doubt they’d be in my bed in the middle of the night.
I’m scared it’s a spider or something still in my bed 😩
Google said bed bugs which is even worse.

My husband and I had these the same it’s baby horse flies I think it was really bad I was worried as I had sepsis 3 years ago and mine was looking infected on my lower arm
It went after 4 days

Probably a horse fly, unlikely to be bed bugs, I think you don't feel them and they bite in a horse shoe shape iirc, have you taken an antihistamine? It should help but if you start to feel unwell, high temp etc you may need antibiotics

But would horse flies really come to a housing estate, fly in my window and bite me in the pitch black?
I thought they lived near farms and fields?

Photo of it. It’s quite a flat lump!
