I have to avoid wheat. Any advice available?

I am having issues and have been advised to avoid wheat for two weeks then diary for another two to see if that helps. Can anyone tell me how long it would be before I saw any result and if I have to give it up would I be on the gluten free aisle? .

Yes - look for the 'free from' section in supermarkets. Being wheat/gluten free is really easy these days, far easier than it was 10 or 20 years ago. Just beware of ready meals and check the ingredients - wheat does sneak into a lot of things.

Thank you very much @Silvercatowner.. So many things today I fancied then had to put back and I was shocked that the sweet potato wraps are £3.80 in Sainsbury's but £2 in Asda on offer from £2.50. It's expensive this avoiding lark! Maybe I'll lose weight as wont be able to eat easily.

Welcome to gluten free world! There are lots of substitutes but most taste gross or are full of chemicals. I found its best to stop trying to substitute and cut out those types of food altogether and adopt a more paleo way of eating so no baked goods, pasta, cereal etc

Depends what you are meant to be getting rid of going wheat free.

Is it GF or low fodmap, or is it something else.
A GF and a low FM diet are quite different but both cover mostly not eating wheat. But low fodmap has some sourdoughs you can eat.

Who has advised you to cut wheat out of your diet?

If something like coeliac disease is suspected then you need to keep eating wheat/gluten for the tests to show up a positive result.

As Helacells says it's easier to just try and eat naturally gluten free food as the substitutes aren't always that great and are expensive.

However most supermarket gluten free pastas aren't too bad these days.

Marks and Spencer's do some passable bread, cakes, pies and breaded items like chicken goujons/ breaded fish.

Yes, helacells.. I'm thinking that's the way I'll go.

I'm having issues which mean I need to cut out the potential issues and I'm starting with wheat.

I've been quite unwell for a while, I'm having digestion issues and also been referred for another scan under the two week protocol for suspected cancer. Can't do anything about that at the moment but maybe I can about the foodConfused.

I'm still avoiding wheat. I think it's helping but not all symptoms have gone so I am continuing to avoid.

If its for two weeks just avoid bread and pasta etc. Rice and potato is fine and fix home cooked meals around those. Home cooking is easier as so many ready prepared include wheat based flours or additives. If you end up long term gluten free then its different and you can source your favourite bread options etc then.

Im gf and my aches go after about 3 - 5 days of eating it so id know in two weeks.

My symptoms still haven't fully gone but I'm not entirely sure as it's gone on so long I've forgotten what normal is!
