Sinus infection? GROSS WARNING

JesusPerezWept · 06/07/2018 23:04

I had a sinus infection at the end of May and was put on antibiotics due to the rotting corpse smell in my right nostril. The antibiotics didn't work and here I am in July still smelling a sweet dead rat up my nostril. The pressure in my nose builds up overnight and by the morning I'm 'dripping green'.

I was advised to use a saline nasal wash several times a day but this has made no difference over the past month. Please help!!!

Sudafed. Dries up the mucus and stops your nose from running in the first place.

Sorry, should have said that I have tried sinus remedies and antihistamines but they haven't touched it...

I remember having a sinus infection so bad that when it did dry up, it coated the inside of my nose, throat and mouth and I was peeling strips of green snot out of my nose and throat like lime fruit leathers. Vile.

Steroid spray?
Sinus issues are a bugger, sympathies.

You need to go back to gp, have a facial xray and a referral to e.n.t. Don't use Sudafed or anything to dry it up without talking to your g,p as it just makes more mucus when it wears off. Have you tried a steam facial type of thing, putting your face over a bowl of hot water.

SureIusedtobetaller - I went and bought some Flixonase this morning. Thank you for the suggestion. I hadn't thought of that 🤔😂

Hegotmanflu - my GP was pretty dismissive about it really. I'll give it a couple of weeks and go back. Thanks for your input! ☺️

The best antibiotics are Amoxiclav - the clavulate helps the penicillin to penetrate deeper - they aren't normally given first but can be prescribed if other antibiotics don't work. They are hardcore but worked on my hideous sinus infection when nothing else did. Also the steroid nasal spray Avamys is very good to help with inflammation and fight off recurrent infections - also prescription only.
