Old person skin things

These were smooth and GP said they weren't worrying - there are several of them. Some of them are now developing these little bumps. Does anyone know if they need looking at again?

They are sebhorreic keratosis, so yes, old person skin things! I'm 71 and have loads of them - too many to count, and they are completely benign, so no need to get them checked.

Toofle · 29/06/2018 19:19

Thanks Nan, I've always envied your name. We'll stop worrying about them then.

I had one removed recently - it wasn't sinister at all but it was on my back right under my bra strap and doc said if it fell off (as a result of being rubbed by the strap) it could bleed heavily, otherwise he said there would have been no need to do anything.

Optimist1 · 29/06/2018 20:48

My mother has these. I accompanied her to a dermatologist (she didn't believe the GP, so asked to be referred) who described them as "the barnacles of old age". As PPs have said, no treatment required.

NanTheWiser · 29/06/2018 20:53

Ooo, Toofle I'm rather flattered!

PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks · 29/06/2018 20:55

Should I be worried that I have 2 at the age of 50?

PilarTernera · 29/06/2018 21:21

They are completely benign PSB, nothing to worry about.

Also, contrary to the thread title, people get can them from about the age of 40, so you are not too young.

I tend to follow my aunt's philosophy of "if it doesn't bother me, I don't bother it."

PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks · 29/06/2018 21:22

That's all right then, I thought I was aging super rapidly! 😂

Tanfastic · 29/06/2018 21:24

I'm 45 and have one under my boob. It's harmless Grin

lljkk · 29/06/2018 22:24

Mine flake off after a while. I think I started having them about age 28, some come back in same place every 5-8 yrs.

Toofle · 29/06/2018 22:29

Thanks for all the replies and the reassurance. It's my old man who has them, not me so far, but you never know your luck.

And skin tags too. I seem to find a new one every day.

charliebear78 · 02/07/2018 18:19

Skin tags and those little red dots are breeding on my body I think!

AlexaAmbidextra · 03/07/2018 00:03

Oh don’t talk to me about the red dots! 😱

Toofle · 03/07/2018 01:21

Oh I've got the red dots.

Lol they have outgrown my torso and legs now and making their way onto my arms!!! Hate the little buggers

gingercat02 · 03/07/2018 19:46

I have the red dots. Anyone know what they are? I think they are cherry angiomas

OhNoes · 03/07/2018 21:55

I wondered what these were! I had two on my shin in my early 20's. They stayed for about 20 years, then went grey and flaked off.

charliebear78 · 04/07/2018 19:16

Yes ginger think they are called Cherry Angiomas at least that is what comes up in Google! :)

I remember when I was young seeing them on my Mum--Now I am covered!
