Can I please ask about NHS dentists? Do you have one for your under ones?

Because I phoned up to attempt to register with the one and only surgery that might possibly take new patients, which isn't open yet, and I was told they'd write to me in a couple of weeks. That was two months ago. I've got 6 weeks left to get free treatment and my 10 month old now has two teeth. How soon should I be taking him to the dentist? Should I be jumping up and down yet?

And if anyone goes private, how much does it set you back? I for one object to paying my taxes for my DS's so-called free NHS treatment and then having to pay again.

They dont usually see children until theny are 3/4. they assessed my ds1 at 2 and said they look at him again at about 3 1/2, dont worry I say.

Ah righto - first time mum you see. I'm still annoyed about my so-called free treatment though. We haven't been able to find an NHS dentist for literally years.

Children generally start going to the dentist at a round 2. He should get free treatment until he is 16 (or 18 if still in full time ed) IF you manage to register him with an NHS dentist.

I would re-contact them, I think you have been forgotten about...tell them you ony have a feww weeks left & can they at least register you now.

Mine are on the books, but they won't see them until they are three unless there is a reason to see them beforehand.

Will do Sandcastle - I'm pretty peed off tbh.

Just a word of warning. Children get a shocking amount of cavities. My dd still only 2 has 4! I never gave her sweets or juice, and she never had a bottle. Yet, she still got 4 cavities. Friend of mine who has a 3 yo son (also not given sweets/juice) has 2 and one of the became an abscess. I have another mum friend with three boys all cursed with terrible teeth--all had loads of cavities before the age of 4. I would say go when he has a full set, which may well be before 2.

Ah that's interesting thanks. At this rate though he'll be ten before he has a full set lol. He seems to teeth hard for about 3 months before a tooth finally appears.
