Hysterescopy after failed womb biopsy in gynae appointment

I had a gynae appointment today. Referral was after very long, very heavy period 4 months ago and then an ultrasound that showed a 'slightly thickened womb lining - 15mm)

At the appointment today the consultant tried to take a biopsy but 'something'** was too tilted and 'something' else was too tightly closed so it was too difficult to do and would have been very painful.

So have been referred to the hysteroscopy clinic which apparently I will be awake for and they will use some water to open everything up ??

Does anyone know any more about this ? And is it likely to be quite painful as that couldn't do the biopsy?

Also do they do a biopsy to be sent off at the same time as the hysteroscopy - or does the hysteroscopy replace that completely ?
Thanks

Sorry - last question. I haven't had natural birth - only caesarean - will that affect difficulty or pain?

I had a hysteroscopy and biopsy. They are done at the same time. The hysteroscopy is the part where they thread a tiny fibre optic camera through your cervix and into your womb. Then they follow it with another tiny fibre with has a little clippy thing that nips out a bit of womb lining (this is the biopsy).

I didn't feel any pain as such, more a slight period type cramping when the camera passed through my cervix. It was only for a second or two and then once it was in place I couldn't feel anything. I was very fascinated and distracted by watching the pictures of my insides on the screen though, so that probably helped. Plus it was all women in the room with me, no men. And they were all so lovely to me.

I had a hysteroscopy this morning (they took a biopsy at the same time). As night sky said it was only as painful as bad period pain and the uncomfortable feeling lasted a minute at most. There was a consultant doing the procedure and two hcsws assisting/talking to me. It was all over within 20 minutes.

Thanks so much for the info.
Sounds bearable 😊
Have you both had natural births ? Just wondering about fact that I've only had caesareans (read somewhere that this can make it a bit trickier.)

Yes two natural births. But honestly it was more akin to a smear test than anything else.
