I noticed it the beginning of May we were down at my mums, and she of course was banging on about taking him to teh doctors, because he had A) fell over nad banged his head on a scooter
B) been at a soft play area and banged his head on a metal pole which was covered in padding and on both occasions he had a bump.

Anyway he seems to twitch - he sort of screws his eyes up and ever so slightly tilts his head to tthe side. Other times he sort of opens his mouth while his head is tilted to the side.Sometimes he will do it 5 or 6 times in quick succesion, other times about once every 10 minutes. it seems to be worse when he is tired, but it's very noticeable and like I said he has only started doing it.
I asked him a couple of times if his eyes were sore. He said they were sore - after he banged his head, but then the next minute said they were fine. Then yesterday he started saying something about his eyes and that he couldn't see properly, but then said "look there's Ben over there" and he was further away from the fence that DS said he couldn't see clearly.
Anyone got any suggestions? What causes children to twitch like that?

Sounds like pos petite mal seizures.(there are many differrent types of epilepsy )

My dd1 had these and they got rapidly worse once we noticed.Esp when she was hungry or tired. She has grown out of it now, but you really need to see gp who will refer you .

My dd had an eeg and i made sure she was really tired before we went so she did it during the test.
How old is your child. My dd was about 4 i think when we noticed .We used to just think she didn`t listen to things but in fact she was missing things because what looked like daydreaming was in fact an absence seizure.eventually she started lip smacking and twitching. The med worked and we learnt to control it even tho now she still needs lots of sleep.

Worth getting him checked by GP. It's quite possible that his twitches are not related to his fall. He may have developed a 'tic' coincidentally.

He's 9 and we haven't noticed them before. Sometimes they are very prominent

Coincidentally, I took my 8yr old DS to the GP on Tuesday as he too has developed 'something' in the last 10 days or so. It started off with lots of blinking and facial contortions and now he nods his head too. Its really quite worrying but the GP has said it is probable just a nervous tic, and asked was he stressed, upset or worried about anything which DS said no, although he did have SATS last week. He said he is aware of it and doesnt know why he is doing it. He has no symtoms of any other kind. The GP said to ignore it as it is probably just a phase and said he does not think it is anything sinister to worry about. Looked it up on the internet and discovered it was quite common in boys aged aroung 7/8yrs and they usually just grow out of it, hence try and ignore it. DS has a persistant cough for a few months a year or so ago and again we think that has just developed through habit.
