fainting after ear-piercing

took DD2 to have her ears pierced this morning (Claire's Accessories). While I was paying she fainted. She's never fainted before, but it was quite stuffy. She was out for no more than 5 or 6 seconds, and seems fine now. Apart from asking her every 5 minutes if she's still OK, anything else I ought to be doing? She's 9 btw.

thought it was normal to faint after ear piercing - I did

ShrinkingViolet · 23/05/2007 13:18

I wasn't sure - I didn't either time, nor did DD1 or any of her friends that I've heard of. Perhaps I can stop (mildly) panicking then!

I didn't actaully faint but I definitely went wobbly!!!
DD went green in the face after hers were pierced so I don't think you've anything to worry about.

I always feel a bit faint after a piercing. Bet way is to eat something sugary before you have a piercing and then a fizzy drink straight after.

DD1 went a lovely shade of white when she had hers done! But she very nearly fainted or threw up (she couldn't decided which she wanted to do ) when we went back for the 6 week check and a stooopid trainee couldn't get the earrings back in!

DD waited till she was out in the street and suddenly keeled over onto the pavement. A number of people stepped over her legs to carry on their way (lovely) ..she wasn't out too long and once she had recovered was fine. Did nothing for my faith in human nature though ..and I told her if she wanted anymore piercings she could wait till she was 16 and take several friends to hold her up!

it'll just be the shock - am sure she'll be fine - there was a similar thread to this quite a while ago....not sure how you might find it though

sparklygothkat · 23/05/2007 14:43

it will be the shock, your blood is pumping so fast, your blood sugars rush and then suddenly drop, which is why I always have something sugary and a fizzy drink afterwards

I fainted when I changed my earrings for the first time - aged 15 . Sounds like shock. Bless her

sparklygothkat · 23/05/2007 14:46
