Help with blood test results

Hi everybody, im looking for a little help to decipher my recent blood test results, little background, unexplained weightloss, thinning and breaking hair, horizontal ridges in all nails (beaus lines i think), toe nails lifting away from nail bed, feeling tired almost hungover at some points and frequent brain fog, had 3 blood tests over the last 18 months, gps saying they've all come back fine, so saying as long as i dont keep on losing weight (was 9st 6lb dropped to 8st in around 12 months with no dietary or lifestyle changes) then im fine, latest blood test doc said very slight vitamin D drop so just take over the counter supplement, not severe enough to cause any symptoms. Now my issue is i cant see any results of vitamin D on the pages i got him to print out, but i think i may be low on folate, or is that vitamin D? My reading is 4.1 (ng/ml) i think that may be low ? My b12 is 346 (ng/L) my serum TSH level is 1.30 (mui/L) so hes said my thyroid is fine there are a few other results that seem to be on the low end but its so hard to fathom out google says so many different things !

If your Folate is 4.1 it is on the lower end of normal range.I have just taken online blood tests and my folate was 6.6 which I was told is on the lower end of normal. I was recommended to increase folate rich foods in my diet as dietary folate is apparently better for the body than folic acid. I have ordered Folate from Amazon as from searching it appears to be better than Folic acid www.amazon.co.uk/Folate-L-Methylfolate-Natural-Folic-1000mcg/dp/B01706V0UU?tag=mumsnetforum-21.

I am also on the lower end of normal for ferritin(Iron stores) which explains my breaking thinning hair and might be something you could ask your doctor to check. I don't think this is included in regular blood checks.

Read the vitamin D threads on here such as this one.

The RDA in the UK is very low in comparison to other countries. If you decide to take vitamin D supplements you need to take vitamin D3 with K2 as this helps the body to use calcium correctly when taking a vitamin D supplement. If you get vitamin D from the sun Vitamin K2 is not required.

Hair loss or thinning can also be caused by biotin deficiency.

Identifying Nutritional Deficiencies Through Nails, Skin & Hair on youtube by Dr Berg gives explanations on various hair and nail issues.

It might be worth taking the online coeliac U.K. assessment as can be linked to unexplained weight loss.
