Endometrial biopsy

I had an endometrial biopsy this week which was described in the leaflet as 'uncomfortable' . It said I might require 'mild painkillers' afterwards. I was almost in tears with the pain during the procedure, and felt dizzy and traumatised for 24 hours afterwards. Has anyone else experienced similar or am I just a pathetic coward?

I've not had that procedure, but I've had other procedures that have been painful when described as uncomfortable.

You are not a pathetic coward. If it was painful it was painful, no one can try and tell you that it wasn't.

I have had 2. The first was a biopsy alone which was absolutely fine. Not even as bad as a smear (sorry!) done in the surgery.
The 2nd was during a hysteroscopy and again was pain free BUT I did have cervical shock afterwards (which is a reflex action, blood pressure drops, nothing to do with pain.) I felt faint and had to lie down at the hospital for an hour or so till I was better.)

It does also depend on the skill of the person doing it. Mine was a consultant gynae, Harley St, very experienced, knew what they were doing. Some women have 'tough' cervixes or closed post menopause and entry can be harder.

It is very sore getting it done, my cervix is in a funny position so that was awkward but when he was taking the samples it bloody hurt and continued to hurt for over 24 hours.
