Ds has banged his head climbing and then fallinf off chair in the garden onto gravel.

Bless him he cried like mad and has 3 grazed bumps on his head.

He stopped crying after 5 mins, and apart from being a bit wobbly on his feet, seems ok.

So bathed and bed as normal. Straight to sleep without any talking/crying tonight (normally he would have his token protest cry for a minute).

Just went into check on him and it smelt a bit funny in his room, so turned on light and moved ds, there was a wet patch on his bottom sheet which could have been sickness or dribble. His hair is wet as well.

Dp thinks it's dribble and sweating, but I'm not sure. Although it's definitly not as awful as previous occasions when he has been sick during the night.

Am I worrying over nothing? Ds is 21 months.

TIA

I would call your out of hours service and ask to speak to a GP. They will be able to advise.

tinkybelle · 22/05/2007 21:26

can you wake him a little and give a drink of water just see how he responds?

PanicPants · 22/05/2007 21:28

We did tickle him to see if we got a reaction and we did. But I'll probably go and wake him in a minute to see if I can.

PanicPants · 22/05/2007 21:33

Just spoken with DH (a GP).

You need to be concerned if he is vomiting or is not rousable (both signs of concussion).

If he did not loose conciousness when he fell then he's probably OK but best to keep monitoring him.

Thankyou Sdg, that was very kind of you.

I think it boils down to whether or not the wet patch was dribble or sick.

Going back up now to have another check and sniff.

Think it is dribble as I've been back up and he has a line of drool from his mouth when I turned him over.

When I wiped his mouth he very grumpily wipedhis face, so he is rousable

Glad to hear that he sounds OK .

Hope your night is OK (I'd probably give him another check before going to bed)...I'm super cautious if either of mine bang their heads!
