When dd was 7mths old she fell from the sofa and banged her head. When i picked her up she was having a fit.She was kept in hospital for a couple of days. From then she has had lots of "funny Turns".One time i was brushing her hair and she just dropped to the floor, again she was rushed to hospital and kept in.Another time we got out of the car and she said she felt funny down the one side and sick, she had to sit down for awhile with her head down. These are just a couple of examples there are lots more. She is now 13yrs and i have been to the hospital and doctors loads of times but i feel like they are not listening to my concerns.

Have you ever been given a diagnosis? eg epilepsy? Also has she ever had a brain scan? If you feel that the hospital isn't listening to you then try another preferably with children's or neurology services.

We have never been given a diagnosis or any tests. It like they don't connect the "funny turns" are together.Sorry just going down the school back soon

I'd push for tests, it doesn't sound right.

urstingug · 22/05/2007 16:58

Are they random or is there some kind of pattern or trigger?

NuttyMuffins · 22/05/2007 16:59

Definatly get a refferal. It's disgusting that you have never been given one.

issyissyissy · 22/05/2007 17:01

I would certainly push for more tests,or a scan, preferably with a neurological consultant or paediatric. Make a fuss as you are more likely to get someone to take notice! That seems to be the way it works, the mor enoise you make the more help you get, as long as you are not rude with it.

They are just random,i think. There have been loads over the years, some we have took her to hospital others just the doctors. She is always tired afterwards and some times she is sick. The last big one we took her to the hospital.By the time we got her there i thought she had had a stroke or something. All down her one side was funny like when you have a stroke. The doctor just let her sleep for a hour and woke her up.She was confused but they said she was fine and sent us home. When we got back home she was sick and then slept for ages.

You poor thing. Sounds awful. If and when she has another "turn" (and I hope she doesn't) then maybe take her directly to an A/E dept that is connected to a hospital with paeds/neuro services. If you live in London then I'd suggest King's College in Camberwell. Otherwise strongly request a specialist referral from your GP. If they refuse then try another GP. If still no luck then you could try finding out the name of the paediatric consultant at your local hospital (pref one with kids/neuro services) and write to their secretary directly.
