DD (3.4) is due to go for her preschool vaccinations tomorrow (MMR and Dip/Tet/Pertussis etc). She spent the day with her cousin on Friday and on Saturday SIL phoned me to say he had come down with chicken pox. She's shown no symptoms of it so far but I know incubation can be up to 10-14 days so there's still time. I rang the HV to ask if we should postpone her jags for now and she said to go along anyway and ask the nurse during the appointment Hmm Would you be wary of getting the vaccination in these circumstances or am I being over cautious?

No I wouldn’t be worried at all. Obviously ask the nurse if there is a specific danger having any of the vaccinations if she does have chicken pox but I’d take the medical advice and go along to the appoint, ent.

Vaccines shouldn't be given if child unwell. Difficult...why not just postpone.

I ended up taking her along and spoke to them. They said they can only go on how she is on the day and she was well at the time so she got her jags. It's actually been nearly 2 weeks since she was "exposed" and still no sign of chicken pox (touch wood) so hopefully she'll be ok. No adverse side effects from the jags apart from a bit of a sore arm for a couple of days. Glad I got it done in the end because it's done now and that's her for a while.
