DCIS diagnosis. Heartbroken.

I was diagnosed with DCIS yesterday. They have booked me an MRI to ensure its just DCIS present, they are confident it is.
Then I'm going to be having a masectomy. At 27 years old.
I'm terrified and heartbroken. I have two babies who are my world.
Has anyone else been through this?

Honestly it sounds horrendous but it isn’t DCIS isn’t actually cancer. It’s a pre-cancer. And there’s only a 30% chance it’ll turn into cancer.

A reconstruction is a far bigger operation than a mastectomy which is mostly why I don’t recommend it.

Thanks for all your support ladies.
Got my MRI results today. There is extensive DCIS in the right breast which they have further biopsied to check there is no invasive cancer hiding amongst it.
There is also a suspicious spot in the left breast which after lots of discussion in the ultrasound they are confident its a cyst but biopsied it as a precaution. She referred to it as "belts and britches."
So yet MORE waiting Sad
