7 periods so far in 2018

And it's only the first week in June. They work out 22 or 23 days apart.

I'm sure that isn't normal, but doesn't seem worthy of a GP appointment as there's nothing 'wrong' as such.
I would have expected them to get less frequent as I head towards 50....(late 40s)

Just to add, I'm pretty sure they've been 28-30 days apart for most of my adult life.

Mine went a bit haywire as I headed towards the menopause. Much heavier than before. And they never got less frequent ... they just stopped.

ThrillerJ · 06/06/2018 19:20

At my recent smear test the nurse was asking me questions about my periods. I told her mind are sometimes 18 days apart. She told me this is normal.

danTDM · 06/06/2018 19:20

Oh I'd say that's deffo start of perimenopause.

Mine did this at 40 ish and then just stopped at 43/44! Not unusual.

ThrillerJ · 06/06/2018 19:22

If you are concerned maybe you should speak to your doctor about it. I felt better after speaking to the nurse about mine.

DOTLEYtheONEeyedDINO · 06/06/2018 19:23

Mine became more frequent (up to 9 days apart sometimes), before gradually becoming 200 days apart! Sometimes painful, sometimes not. Sometimes heavier, sometimes so light there was almost nothing. It took 7 years from becoming very irregular to stopping. It's lovely now.

twerkit · 06/06/2018 19:34

I've had 7 in 2018 too. I'm 30. Periods range from 22-26 days. Gynae consultant described that as regular.

lljkk · 06/06/2018 19:36

There was a long spell (>1 yr?) in my late 20s/early 30s when my periods were usually 22 days apart. It was normal for me (for a while).

Taking high doses of vit. B6 (for something completely unrelated) made my cycle switch to more stereotype 28-29 days apart.

grumpy4squash · 07/06/2018 13:44

Interesting about the vit B6!

I guess I'm not a medical oddity then, just heading into peri- :(

Op I'm not heading into peri.

Normal cycles range from 21-35 days. You're normal!!

danTDM · 07/06/2018 15:05

How old are you OP?

I was amazed when I did at 40, but then several of my friends had gone through menopause by 45 Hmm

We're told average age is 53?? Where did that come from? Nobody I know still had periods past 49/50.

But, if you are under 40, it's probably just 'one of those things'!

I just thank God I had DD at 38!

kikashi · 07/06/2018 21:10

This happened me about 5 years ago. Went from 28-30 day cycle to 22/23/24 days . Very common for periods to get closer together in perimenopause. Now 55 still totally regular at 23/24 days.

grumpy4squash · 07/06/2018 21:43

dan I am 49, so peri is definitely a possibility. Still ovulating though, for what it's worth

twerkit were yours always that frequent?

OP posts:
grumpy4squash · 07/06/2018 21:45

kikashi that sounds very similar! Do you think it's a good or bad thing to still have periods at 55? I don't think I'd mind, I'm a bit worried about suddenly getting 'old' when they stop.

swingofthings · 08/06/2018 06:47

My peri started this way at 42. It went from every 23/24 days, to stopping for up to 5 months, to coming back full on, to totally irregular, ie. every two weeks to nothing for 45 days.

Now 47 and the menopause is full on and periods almost non existent so hope that's it.

twerkit · 08/06/2018 07:13

When not on the pill, they're always between 22-27 days. I take my bbt every morning so the temperature drop tells me I'm coming on that day.

kikashi · 08/06/2018 08:37

I have Migrane associated vertigo which gets worse around my period and has been worse generally for the past 5 years - so I wish my periods would stop. I had my FSH tracked and am still ovulating. The GP declared that I am not "menopausal" but I do get hot flashes, brain fog, fatigue etc and worsening migraines - lots of symptoms others have described as symptoms.

I already feel old. My periods started when I was 11 so I am heartily sick of them. A migraine specialist thinks it is likely the headaches/dizziness might stop when my periods do(would be so wonderful) although there is also a chance they might worsen (in which case I might fall into the pit of despair).
