really sore back and neck - DVDs?

My neck is really really stiff.
And my back. In the shoulder blades.
Am sure it's from hunching in the chair at work all day.
Have had acupuncture which helps ease the pain but I can't always get to an appointment.
I want to get a DVD to try to streeeeetch things out at home. (And only cough up the dosh once!)
Anyone tried any they can recommend?

I've got that too, but just stupidly put up with it. No idea about DVDs, but the person I used to see at the hospital advised:

Sitting bolt upright, and kind of pushing your chin into your neck.

Sitting bolt upright full stop.

I suffer like this and have to visit an osteopath to sort me out. One thing to try which will cost you nothing is to take a small towel and roll it up into a sausage. Lie on the floor and put this towel in the middle of your back, at the top. It's great because it really stretches all the muscles, and gravity helps too. Lie on the floor for 2-3 minutes.

The other exercise is to stand in a doorway and hold on to the architrave on either side, then lean forward as far as you can. You'll feel the stretch through your shoulders.

Pilates is the best form of stretching exercises. DVD's are available.
Pilates exercises are floor based stretching exercises, to balance the whole body, strengthing the core muscles to support the spine.

Once learnt they can be done anywhere and anytime and without tuition.

My local marriot hotel offers pilates classes such as this, for a six week/session course, it costs £48.

Pilates can be dangerous if your spine is slightly out of alignment, it is possible to do more harm than good.
The best way to learn Pilates is in a small group taught by a qualified physiotherapist, preferably a sports physiotherapist. A good Sports physiotherapist will take your history when you enrol and will be mindful of your problems and therefore tailor the lessons to your body.
