How long should I let sick 19 month ds sleep for this afternoon?

DS was sick last night at 5pm then another three times before I put him to bed at 7pm. He was then sick at 12midnight, 4am and 9.30am. He is breastfeeding and has so far managed to keep down water and a rice cake as well as all the breastmilk. I put him down for a nap at noon and he is still fast asleep. My main worry is dehydration. He was clamouring for water when he saw me run the tap earlier, so I gave him probably 300mls in total over the space of a couple of hours.
My instinct is to leave him to sleep, but I just wanted to see if anyone could offer some words of wisdom for me please.
Apart from possetting when he was tiny and one other one-off time, this is the first time that ds has ever been sick, so I am not sure if I am doing the right thing.

I would probably let him sleep as he had a pretty disturbed night and being sick is tiring too. I'm sure he would wake if he was thirsty anyway.

Thanks Seona. He must have heard me post as he's just woken up himself. His nappy was wet but nowhere near as heavy as I would expect and he's snuggled in for some breastmilk as I type.

I'd leave him for 3 hours, then wake him and offer another bf, then let him sleep again if he wants to, or just cuddle up with you in front of the TV or something.

When my dd has been ill we've reverted to exclusive bf for a couple of days, although I've offered milk/water in a cup too as obv my supply wasn't sufficient initially to go from 2bfs a day to loads!

Are you familiar with the BRAT diet btw? Bananas, Rice, Apple, Toast - these are the best foods to offer when poorly, if he wants something solid.

Hope he brightens up soon .

Ahh, cross posted!

Thanks Can'tSleepWon'tSleep. I'd never heard of the BRAT thing as such, but these are the foods that I would have offered to start with I think.

He's normally such a busy boy and it's odd to see him looking so sad and sitting still!!

He's had about a gallon of breastmilk and his eyes are droopy so I think I will put him back to bed.

Still more vomiting. Called nhs 24 who sent us to out of hours GP. Nurse practitioner there gave me some shocking breastfeeding advice which I am going to start another thread on.
