Would you go to the doctor about this? (digestion related)

A family member has recently beaten oesphageal cancer against the odds (sorry I know spelt wrong) I understand this is quite rare (to beat it?). Anyway we met at a family do last month and he was talking about his experience and asked us all, that if we ever had any problems with swallowing etc, to see a doctor asap. (initially his doctor fobbed him off, but thankfully he persevered).
Coincidentally about a week later I started getting problems. It's constant. Maybe it's just plain old indigestion (which is what puts me off going to the doctors.. I rarely go for anything and don't want to be seen as a time waster) but I have nothing to compare to as have never had this before. It is uncomfortable every time I eat, and it feels like there's something stuck, food goes down very slowly, stomach feels v full . eg I ate last night, it's now 2pm and I can still feel it and it's very uncomfortable (I've not eaten since then) It just feels like a blockage..
There's no burning sensation and I"m not bringing stuff up, so obviously not heartburn.
Does this sound like indigestion? Should I even bother the doctor?
(yes I know the cancer is not hereditory, but keep thinking about cousin's warning)

I would see the GP because any such changes should always be reported. You would not be seen as a time waster by any GP practice.

yes true Attila because it is a change.. I've never had indigestion before, it's just come on sudden and now constant

Given that you've just been told about your relative's symptom, I think it's quite likely that your mind is playing tricks on you, but I would definitely go to the doctor about it. If it is nothing to worry about they can quickly put your mind at rest, and if it's anything that needs treatment, you might has well do something about it as soon as possible rather than stay uncomfortable.

yes. I've known for two years about his condition, he was given the worst diagnosis and beat the odds . However I didn't see him until last month,(and he warned us re his early symptoms) maybe just coincidence but, need to get checked out, as it is EVERY time I eat, I really don't enjoy food now (not losing weight grrr...probably due to my wrecked thyroid)

I'd say pop along to your GP... could this potentially be related to your thyroid issues do you think?

This sounds a lot like something called hiatus hernia. Definitely worth a visit to your doctor - for reassurance if nothing else

My father has hiatus hernia, as did his mother and sister.. not hereditory though. I am having a scope done in the next couple of weeks..I did manage to see the doctor and he referred me
