Elbow problem

My GP doesn't have a clue and referred me ad my consultant doesn't answer questions when I ask him what he thinks is wrong. I'm in pain and peed off.

About 18months ago my left hand started going numb and tingly - on and off. Its not carpel tunnel syndrome I'm affected more on my little finger and the next one along (but in the others and thumb as well). Carpel tunnel isn't in the little finger.

So I went to the GP who referred me, had an mri scan on my neck which apprantly shows "no significant abnormalities". I have no idea what the insignificant abnormalities are.

Then I had to wait for nerve conduction studies, while waiting I noticed that if I lent on my left elbow this sent a shooting pins and needles sensation up my arm into my hand. So gently prodded and I have a very tender spot on the underneath/outside part of my elbow.

Nerve conduction studies last November showed I didn't have a trapped nerve. Finally saw the consultant last week to discuss, he examined me and said that the examination showed no problems and he would discharge me. Then I told him about pressing on my elbow - he said that was different and would refer me to a larger hospital for more tests. He wouldn't say what sort of tests

The last week I've been in agony, my elbow feels very achey all the time, like its in a vice. I'm struggling changing gear in my car. The last 3 days have noticed a clicking in my elbow both on flexion and extension.
Am in agony and desperate to get it sorted.

I've been having problems with my elbow, in my right arm. It aches a lot, and it's worse when I'm using the mouse (it's my right elbow and I'm right handed) or when I'm driving.

I've been seeing an osteopath, because it seems related to a longer standing problem with my shoulders. Basically, when I get very stressed, and when I've been working on the PC for too long, all my muscles across my shoulder tense up. Gradually this has an effect on the rest of the muscles in my arm.

She has done work not only on my shoulders but also the muscles on my upper and lower/fore arm.

I don't know if this what you're suffering from, but if the GP can't help, it's always worth trying an osteopath? If nothing else, you'll end up with a thorough massage!

Thats a good idea, hadn't thought of an osteopath - thanks.

Hi, spotted this the other day but then was forcibly removed from computer by DH to go out for dinner!

Sounds like you may have irritation/tethering of your ulnar nerve.

Picture of it here . You can get some scar tissue forming around the nerve as it passes around the outside of your elbow (possibly where your tender spot is), particulary if you have injured this area in the past. This could give you the symptoms of tingling/P&N in your little finger.

You can have accentuation of these problems if you have some irritation around the nerve where it exits from the neck. The MRI results show that you do not have any significant problems, but we all have normal age related changes in our joints and these can lead to pain or symptoms in the neck, or further down the nerve root (into the area of the arm or hand that the nerve supplies).

IMO I would see a physio (as I am one...well was BC), they can examine your neck and elbow thoroughly. I have succesfully treated someone with symptoms just like yours in the past.

HTH (sorry it's so late)!
