Chest ache

I've had a 'chest ache' for a few days on and off. I say an ache because I wouldn't describe it as a pain, it's more just a discomfort.
It's kind of like a reflux feeling but I don't think it's that. I feel perfectly well, no shortness of breath. It's sometimes accompanied by a similar sensation in my back between my shoulder blades.

I'm going to the drs tomorrow, we don't have a walk in centre near us and A+E isn't an option (I know I'll be advised that, id advise it too but I honestly don't think it's and a+e job and I couldn't get there anyway)

Has anyone experienced anything similar? I've read about projected pain that can resonate in the chest/upper back but stem from elsewhere?

It may well just be indigestion and I've forgotten what it feels like!

Any suggestions other than imminent death? (If I thought it was that serious then I would've done something over the weekend please don't think I'm a complete idiot ignoring a heart attack!)

I hope you get the answers you need at your gp appointment tomorrow.

It could be reflux or a muscular strain. But all guidance says chest discomfort should be taken seriously and to get emergency help. People do have heart symptoms that they ignore for some time before getting medical attention. However, if I went to a&e every time I had chest ache, I'd be there most months . But it's important to remember it's impossible to diagnose without thorough testing.

Sorry, I know that's not particularly helpful.

I get a sort of tightening around my heart when I am very stressed. I would describe it as uncomfortable, warm and slightly achey.

Thanks to you both, I'm still experiencing discomfort however wasn't deemed important enough for an emergency appointment at the GP this morning so will try again tomorrow!
I'd say that, although on and off, the upper back pain is getting worse. It feels almost like a chest infection however I have no cough at all. I will ring the GP again in the morning and be more pushy to make sure I get seen. I daren't ring 111 as I know they ring an ambulance at the first mention of chest pain and half term isn't the greatest timing for a hospital trip!

I too get this and on my left side! This is going on for around 4 yrs now. I have got ecg and ekg done and nothing strange found. I think either it is muscular or gastric reflux pain (infact 50% of the time when I get this pain, I have reflux too)

OddshoesOddsocks · 01/06/2018 17:20

It's odd isn't it! I think this may be a mild chest infection, it's definitely easing now and a few people have told me about there experiences of chest infections without coughs (NHS direct will NOT admit that that is possible though!)
I'm feeling much better now everyone, thanks!

I have gallstone pain that affects my back too, check if it comes on at particular times of day and if any food could trigger it, mine first came on after eating cheese sandwiches

OddshoesOddsocks · 09/06/2018 13:09

That's interesting, I'll keep an eye on it and see if there's a trigger. I think it's gone now, i first noticed it after exercise and the last time I felt it was after exercise too. Might just have to stop exercising!
