It happens several times a day sometimes.
Her eyes look sort of headachy and she feels really really dizzy.
Its not when she hasnt eaten . She used to have a lot of absence seizures but i am almost certain its not related. Just wondered if im missing something.
? migraine without the actual headache ?
Cheers

anaemia?

FrannyandZooey · 18/05/2007 22:33

heavy periods?
drugs? (sorry)

melsy · 18/05/2007 22:34

middle ear infection ,labrynthitis (sp?), possibly migraine? I think you can have one and have no headache, as I may be suffering from them.

fakeblonde · 18/05/2007 22:40

She hasnt started her periods yet. Drugs deffo no as she is very open and very very anti smoking drugs ect. Thanks for your reply tho and i dont think for a min shes too perfect for drugs or anything-she was very ill a few years ago and had enough drugs to put her off for a long time.

Melsy thats a good point.Never thought of that and we all suffer with ear probs except her so its a thought.

I know it sounds daft but i`m not sure if its worse when she eats a lot of chocolate.

I had lots of dizzy spells as a teenager, without any particular known cause but I've had the following suggested: growing too much, being too tall, not eating enough (I do get hypoglycemic) and low blood pressure. They particularly happened when standing up after sitting for a while (ie after a class finished), and although I ate a lot, it was noticable that when I could feel them coming, eating a glucose tablet did help (although I can remember having at least one immediately after eating). Oh, and getting too hot, or stressed would also trigger them. After a while I learnt to manage them, and they went away. I'd look for what makes her feel better, (if anything) to give you some clues.

fakeblonde · 18/05/2007 22:44

Also asked her to wee on a urine stick and it showed up a large amount of protein but she has no sign of a wee infection and even if it did shouldn`t make her dizzy.

Dehydrated then?

noddyholder · 18/05/2007 22:46

please take her to the doctor significant protein in urine with puffy eyes etc can indicate a kidney problem.Has she had any illness in the last 6 weeks?

fakeblonde · 18/05/2007 22:47

Thanks nooka,
she does get stressed sometimes so it could be stress.
Ill make some extra time to talk to her this weekend.Shes quite a nervous person, although much better last couple of years, so i`ll make sure she has a few early nights and a chat .

well chocolate can bring on migraines (if intolerant) and exacerbate any hypoglycemia,(which could be another possibility, but easily treated if reactive by diet). If shes getting a big sugar drop then making sure she eats something with a low GI will help , so make sure she has nuts/eggs/cheese/whole grains if she has high sugar diet.

Sorry suddenly Im giving you a big list of things that could be worry some.

bubblerock · 18/05/2007 22:48

Could be hormonal, maybe her periods are about to start. DSD started hers whilst staying with us and she was so poorly, a bit of a shock to the system. I'd take her for a check up though.

fakeblonde · 18/05/2007 22:49

Noddy, she does complain of stomach ache sometimes but being 15 i always assume her period is going to start.
Colditz, she drinks 1-2 bottles of water and several cups of tea.She drinks a lot i think-noy too much but she loves water.

You need to get her blood pressure checked and her kidneys.I was like that as a teenager and I got really ill at 19.The doctors said if I had been treated earlier my kidneys would have been saved. Is she tired or feeling unwell at all?

rabbleraiser · 18/05/2007 22:50

Is there a history of diabetes in your family?

noddyholder · 18/05/2007 22:51

I used to frink a lot of water too. Please take her to gp this is something I am passionate about sorry don't mean to be bossy!

3littlefrogs · 18/05/2007 22:52

Protein in the urine is something that MUST be checked out by a doctor. At the very least a midstream spec. should be sent to the lab, and maybe a blood test.

Both my dss have had glandular fever recently - there seems to be a lot of tonsillitis about too. Loads of nasty viruses aroud at the moment.

noddyholder · 18/05/2007 22:53

Does she have puffy eyes or ankles?

fakeblonde · 18/05/2007 22:55

No Melsy it makes sense.
She used to have epilepsy (its not related i am sure ) and she still cant go without sleep or food even tho she has grown out of it.
She just manages it well now and doesn`t stay up late or go hungry.
I will look at her diet again and give her some suitable snacks.

Noddy her eyes are puffy actually. In my first post i described them as headachy, but they are puffy.

I tested her wee a few months ago and there was protein in then but i dismissed it as no symptoms-was really checking for glucose. No fh o diabetis but wanted to check.
So-i will ask gp to check bloods inc glandular fever (she had her tonsils out a few months ago but still get sorethroat really miffed !)
I will send a mid stream spec-can pop that in myself mon and make appt to see gp.
Ankles are fine btw but she is always tired and lethargic.Thats a long story nd i have a lot to do so cant go into that now but thanks everyone for all your replies. It has spurred me to take it all up with gp.

noddyholder · 18/05/2007 23:16

All those happened to me.I had repeated throat infections as a child and it affected my kidneys. It is a very complicated scenario but get her to the gp asap.If she has had protein for a while it needs looking at.I was permanently lethargic and tired and was always being told off by my mum and at school

fakeblonde · 18/05/2007 23:52

Noddy would anything signiicant show up on a routine msu or need i ask for a full bllod count or what ?

OP posts:
fakeblonde · 18/05/2007 23:56

Gosh sorry about all the sp mistakes !
And i AM off the wine believe it or not.

OP posts:
noddyholder · 19/05/2007 09:24

You need an msu to measure the protein and a blood test to check kidney function. It is treatable with steroids if caught early although it may be nothing and just an infection or something. The dostors pressed the puffy bit on my eye and it stayed in iykwim and was worse in teh mrning.I hope she is ok.
