Its on my palm just noticed it washing my hands at work - definetly not there last night (didn't notice either this morning in the shower but that was 5am so I can't be totally sure!)

My immediate thought when I saw it was It's just a bit of dirt but it won't wash off - including with alcohol sanitizer so don't think it is a 'stain' not touched anything that would stain either.... any thoughts?

Fake tan?

BillywigSting · 25/05/2018 09:55

Looks like a bruise

Totem543 · 25/05/2018 09:59

Fairly sure that's not a mole. Looks more like a stain or a bruise. A mole wouldn't just appear like that overnight either. I'm sure if you just leave whatever it is alone it'll clear up.

Talcott2007 · 25/05/2018 10:24

Thanks for the responses - I'm not particularly worried it's just so weird. I hope it disappears it looks like I'm grubby!!

Never used fake tan in my life. Can't think of anything I've come into contact with that would stain. Did'nt consider a bruise although it doesn't hurt and I've not have any sort of injury there... very odd

I got one similar the other day - from rust. Was gone in a couple of days

Please do bear in mind that developing a mole on the palm of your hand is extremely rare and can be a particular form of skin cancer (ditto the soles of your feet or between your toes). So if it doesn't disappear, please do get it checked out.

I also have a mole on the palm of my hand which is under yearly surveillance by a dermatologist because it is so unusual. it came up quickly too. Just noticed it one day... it is not cancer, but it is not normal either.

Talcott2007 · 25/05/2018 11:52

Thanks @rememberthetime I'll keep that in mind - if it doesn't disappear I will get it checked out just in case. It would be really ironic if it is anything sinister - I actively avoid tanning - you will always find me in the nearest patch if shade with fact 50 on!

Weird question but have you been gardening? Dandelions can stain like that

DoodleCat · 25/05/2018 17:13

I got a similar stain from a permanent marker. Took days for it to disappear.
