three month colic?

Hello... my poor dd has been screaming her head off tonight in what seems like a fit of colic. I had previously thought that colic passed around 12 weeks, but she is 12 weeks and looks to be STARTING it. The odd reference to 3 month colic in my books is not elaborated on. Is 3 month colic .... colic that starts at 3 months? Anyone any experience of it?

Hope this is a one off. not nice. thanks x

'Colic' is supposed to start at around 3 weeks and pass by 3 months - although it took 4 months for my ds to get over it. Your dd may well have a tummy ache or something, but I wouldn't worry that it's the start of something long-term... hope she gets better soon!

Funnily enough my 16 week old seems out of sorts today - after 2 or 3 weeks of being quite chilled. Am wondering if she could be teething? Or maybe the weather is getting to them?

Yes, although it started around three weeks and went on until almost six months! We took ds for cranial osteopathy which helped a lot. Before three months we just thought we'd 'ride out the storm' and it would pass, but it didn't and that's when we sought help with co. It's not cheap, but if you can afford it at all, it's worth trying. Also some gripe water was helpful to relieve the symptoms (and loads cheaper). Actually, if you haven't already, I'd try that first! Hope it doesn't go on too long for you. Also, don't rush into starting solids. We tried at four months (ds1 and dd were fine with that) and it made his symptoms ten times worse. HTH a little.

Spots, my dd was like this last week. She had a run of 3 days where she seemed to be suffering from colic all day. Seeing as she'll be 12 weeks this week I thought we'd managed to miss it. But she was not a happy bunny for a few days, then it mysteriously went as fast as it had arrived. I gave her gripe water and windy pops and like I said it went as fast as it had arrived, all very strange.

Well it really did seem to be colic... she was yelling out in pain and then it would pass, and reappear. But by 8.30 she was fine... it took ages to get her to bed because she was so happy (to see the back of it, presumably). Peculiar, and like I say, hope it's a one-off.
