Can anyone tell me what this is please? Prickly heat? Hives? Driving me nuts!

I have these little itchy red bumps on my hand and feet, been there around three days (first appeared with the sun)

I can't tell what it is exactly but piriton and dermol aren't making them go away and it's driving me nuts! They sting if I scratch them.

It's only only on my hands and feet and hasn't spread at all

I have hayfever and asthma, so I don't know if it could be related to those?

Do I need to see a gp do you think?

That looks sore, is your hand by your thumb a bit puffy, I'd go to g.p. and would stop using the Dermot for now. Have you been gardening.

gryffen · 19/05/2018 21:49

Dermol will help hives but that looks like a prickly heat type rash which is gonna need Eurax or HC45.

Are your ankles puffy or just a bad angle of photo?

If puffy and a rash then nip to chemist or phone 111 if it starts spreading or getting worse.

I have a very similar rash on my feet and it's a mix of athletes foot and a very very mild case of phonfolox (can't spell it).

Very very itchy red bumps, heat makes them worse and only round where my shoes are.

Looks like hives. If normal antihistamines not helping get stronger from doc.

I’d wage a very safe bet at prickly heat, I’ve had the sodding thing all my life.

Don’t put anything oil based on it - so e45, moisturiser, anything. The more you block the skins pores from sweating the worse it’ll get. Wash with a mild soap and dry, then puff with powder. The best one is special prickly heat snake brand powder - www.amazon.co.uk/Prickly-Heat-Powder-Snake-Brand/dp/B001JPH44K?tag=mumsnetforum-21

The if the itching is still driving you loopy then an antihistamine will help. Magicool prickly heat spray is also good.

Find the trigger too - it’s usually something pore blocking. For me it’s suncream.

gryffen you've just described what I've been suffering from on my feet for the last couple of years, only flares up when it's hot, incredibly itchy red spots that only occur where my shoes touch my skin. What do you use?

BillywigSting · 19/05/2018 22:14

Yes little bit puffy and have been gardening.

Photo was taken after taking antihistamine.

It's itchy but it stings to touch.

Have washed in cool water and mild soap, patted dry, that seems to have helped a bit.

I think it's going to be a long night!

If it's still like this tomorrow I'll call ooh gp I think

We're you wearing sandals, did you have gloves on. Just wonder if it's something in the garden you have reacted to.

messybun · 19/05/2018 22:22

Polymorphic light eruption. I get it every year at this time, need steroids to make it go and then don't get it again until next year. Antihistamines and cream doesn't touch it Sad

forestsmurf · 19/05/2018 22:37

I get this every year on my hands and elbows a prickly heat type reaction to the sun a strong antihistamines from the doctor is the only thing that helps me (I will try and add a photo of the antihistamine I take )

forestsmurf · 19/05/2018 22:39

Ok I can't! It's levoceriizine hydrochloride

BillywigSting · 19/05/2018 22:56

I was wearing ballerinas and no gloves, could be something in the grass but I had cropped leggings on too and my arms and legs are fine.

It's literally just the tops of my hands and feet

How are you today, did the Dr or pharmacist help.

Ratbagcatbag · 20/05/2018 19:40

I was going to come and say exactly what messybun did. Polymorphic light eruption. Felt like I was on fire with it, creams never helped.
Steroids sorted it, and it's finally eased up over the years.
