Any experiences of B12 injections?

Hi all, had quite a stressful year and haven't been feeling great for a while but put it down to the loss of my little sister. When I was pregnant 4 years ago I had gestational diabetes and thought I'd gone on to develop type 2. I was constantly tired and always felt lightheaded and breathless. Anyway I pushed GP to test and my b12 came back low, they did a repeat test on Tuesday and the dr called me today saying I need to have 6 injections starting tomorrow and have them every other day. I am still waiting for the intrinsic factor test apparently this takes weeks. If this is positive I'll need an injection every 2 months.
What are your experiences? How long did it take to feel better? Will they let me inject myself at home? Going to the drs is very inconvenient with work etc. Thanks for reading Smile

You’ll feel better for having them, but it won’t be a light switch effect. You’ll realise you’re keeping going longer, later, while not feeling different in yourself.

Ok thanks I hope so, have a week long work trip just after the initial injections finish. Was hoping to be feeling better for that.

I had levels checked in pregnancy after being continously ill for a few months. It was certainly inconvenient getting to the drs 6 times in 2 weeks (and they messed up my appointments a few times which didn’t help). Can’t say I’ve felt any different but that may just be because I’m more pregnant. I have to have levels checked after birth to see if I need to continue injections.

I was diagnosed 22 years ago. I'm injected every 3 months. I tend to feel more worn and fatigued the closer I get to injection date.

Other than that, nothing much. Im single parent, 3 kids and work FT.

Getting several doses in quick succession are called loading doses and I thunk their aim is to boost your levels, no more, no less.

There is a Pernicious Anaemia Society group on FB

Thanks @Sosogoodagain I'll check that out
