Tingling/burning pain in neck.

Hi I've had a burning pain and tingling sensation in my neck since 2016. It comes and goes rather than being constant I had a CT scan which came back clear. No one was sure what it was and it was it put down to posture, lots of sitting at a desk and phone use
I was prescribed 20mg of amitriptaline which I take every night. This seemed to help for a while but recently it's bothering me again.
Over the last few days the tingling is really intense and the back of my neck is really sore to touch. It feels like one of the bones.
Otherwise I can move my neck fine
I don't like to bother my GP and it's pretty impossible to get an appointment.
Has anyone had anything similar?

I had something called L'hermette's phenomenon, which was an intense electrical like sensation travelling down my spine when I moved my neck, particularly forwards, but also side to side.

Mine was caused by a super rare neurological condition called syringomyelia, but it can have more common causes too. If your GP is hard to get hold of, maybe a physio could help. I can self refer to an NHS one, and they have access to imaging etc. I needed an MRI for a diagnosis - I think it might be more sensitive than CT although I am not certain.

If the amitriptyline helped, it suggests it is nerve related, so there are other tablets for nerve pain, even if you don't find a cause - nortripyline, gabapentin, pregabalin, duloxetine etc. Just a case of finding the best combination of effectiveness and low side effects.
