New doctors

Hiya, sorry if this is the wrong place to post this, but I would appreciate any knowledge about this:

Myself and my partner have moved to a new area and this area has a different health centre/doctor's surgery.

So, we went there today to pick up two New Patient forms, and to my horror, the receptionist is someone I know. Furthermore, this lass is a proper loudmouth and regularly gets drunk among all our peers and friends and colleagues!!!!! When I say drunk, I mean SHE DRINKS LIKE A FISH.

As the receptionist, will she have access to our medical records? And be able to see what prescriptions we are on etc? Because if she is, I can guarantee she will drunkenly blab to everyone about them and I'm now in two minds about registering with this doctor at all and just making the drive to our old one.

Does anyone know more about this? Do we even HAVE to change doctors?

Any help/knowledge appreciated
xx

Yes she will have access to blood results, medications etc etc although she is bound by confidentiality and would be breaking that if she spoke to anyone about those things outside of a work professional capacity

Yes, she will have access to your medical records, but she is bound by confidentiality, she cannot say anything to anyone. If you do not want to change doctors you would need to check if your previous GP’s would take you on as an out of area patient.
