Verruca removal?

Hello,

I've had a verruca on my foot for maybe 5 years now Angry

Last summer it was painful where I was wearing sandals/flip flops but nothing would get rid of it.

Now we are back in sandal weather I really want this bloody thing gone!

So far I have tried;

Bazooca (or however you spell it.)

Superglue

Cider vinegar with cotton wool left on at night.

An over the counter freezing one which had a freezing "wand." Oddly that removed my son's verruca when he was about 4 (he's now 9) but not mine.

Wartie.

Nail varnish.

It's annoying me now because it's so flipping stubborn! Any more suggestions?

Go to a chiropodist - when I was a kid it was my last resort.

flapsicle · 08/05/2018 17:58

They’re horrible aren’t they. My 6 year old verruca peeled off in a VERY satisfying way just a couple of weeks ago - no idea why it suddenly did! I’d asked my GP about it a couple of years ago and he said the freezing methods usually didn’t work, and while he was happy enough to try their own ‘freeze’ treatment, he didn’t recommend it.

Mine wasn’t painful though, just ugly. I agree that a chiropodist might be the way forward now. Good luck!

We did Apple cider vinegar covered with duct tape. Worked in a week where other things had failed. I was so shocked to see it had just fallen off!!

I had a big one on my big toe once. It was removed through minor surgery with a local anaesthetic.
Ask your GP for advice.

I had one finally disappear recently (after years!) after starting to take vitamin C + zinc tablets - worth a try?

Thefirsttulip · 08/05/2018 18:13

Mine isn't really a mound type one. Mine is more like a hole in my foot where edges are hard and I can see black bits in the centre but can never remove them.

I tried all you have tried and more on my sons 16 veruccas!!! The only thing that has worked is Salactol from EBay. I dab it on each verruca every night with a cotton bud (the applicator that comes with the bottle is crap). I do it when he’s sat in bed in his pjs so then he lets it dry and goes to sleep - it’s not getting worn away with walking about. The next night we file each verruca with a foot file and reapply.

It’s taken 2 months of nightly applications but he’s down to just 3 from 16 of the pesky things.

I had one for years and nothing would shift it. Finally went to the doctor and they used a process that I think was called needling where, with a bit of local anaesthetic, he stuck a needle in it to get the centre to bleed. Sounds odd and it wasn't pleasant but I think the theory was that it stimulated some kind of immune reaction where it killed itself and then wouldn't come back. It worked.

Mountainsoutofmolehills · 08/05/2018 21:40

the only way is to get it frozen off. I tried to thing you paint with, the pumice.. all. Mine was massive- the freezing was worth it.

My daughter had about 20 on her big toe. I took her to the chiropodist who gave me powder that made a purple solution she had to soak her foot in every night for two weeks. I took her back and I swear the chiropodist just peeled the lot of in one go it was so amazingly gross but she's never had one since.

Mountainsoutofmolehills · 09/05/2018 00:57

Holycityzoo. OMG. That's amazing!!!!

I also had one another time for 3 years, I had a pedicure by a Ugandan woman called Anita. I told her about it. And she said it will be gone in a week or so. I totally forgot about it. And then days passed and I scratched my foot really hard, I looked down, and nothing was there. Like a miracle :)

MmeButtox · 09/05/2018 01:33

I had one cored out with an electric cauterising needle (in America, I had been utterly unable to walk with pain as it had enlarged very suddenly) local anaesthetic, gross procedure, big hole, but I was 100% fixed. Try to find someone to do some minor surgery. It was over and done with. I have bad back problems, can't be limping dramatically over a silly wart.

Nooblynoo · 09/05/2018 02:17

A friend used Tropic skin range green liquid on her feet, and the verruca went.

jazzhands83 · 09/05/2018 02:51

I had one for 5 years, tried literally everything to get rid of it. The only thing that worked (like a miracle) was taking a herb called Thuja, I bought it on amazon and took it for about one month.

Thefirsttulip · 09/05/2018 13:38

I mentioned it at the GP surgery but they don't do anything for them anymore apparently. You just have to self treat at the pharmacy or go private 😐

My DD had a hideous mosaic verucca (cluster of 40 or so Shock) on her heel and a few on the other foot for over a year. I tried everything- duct tape, over the counter treatments, banana skin etc - nothing worked. So I took her to a chiropodist who did the ‘needling’ treatment mentioned above with a local anaesthetic. It wasn’t pleasant and he didn’t guarantee that it would work, but it did. 12 weeks later they had a completely disappeared. This was about a year ago now and I still check her feet from time to time (she’s a teenager) as I just can’t believe they have all gone!!

Strongbeatsskinny · 09/05/2018 15:38

Another vote for salactol also available over the counter costs about £3 for a small bottle. I’ve a stubborn one on my toe that’s been there 7 years I had a few mirrored on each foot. Down to the one now weirdly a Newton’s chiropody sponge knocked it to almost nothing a few weeks ago so I’ve been using the salactol to hopefully kill it off completely.

Thefirsttulip · 09/05/2018 17:34

Ooo I think I'll try the salactol mentioned!

Chiropodist

Another vote for needling - it really did work for me. Money well spent.
