Has anyone had any experience of treatment for plagiocephaly? My ds (8 mths) has a flat head and altho I've got lots of info from the web I haven't been able to speak to anyone who's had the helmet treatment to find out their views. Before I shell out a lot of money any advice/experiences would be of great help especially how it affected the babes. Yes I've tried repositioning. I'm so confused as to what to do. Many many thanks

I met a lady at the baby show this weekend who's little one was having the helmet treatment. She said there was some improvement after only 3 weeks.

Thanks for that Homebird8. It's good to get feedback from real people as I tend to take testimonials with a pinch of salt - sellers don't put the bad stuff on!

Hi MissusM..just seen your message and wanted to tell you about my DS, he's 2and 3 months now but when he was 4 months we noticed one side of his head was flat, even though we would move him he would find a way of rolling back onto the flat side. My wife was really upset about it and we went to see a consultant, they were very sympathetic and told us about the helmets but they felt they were unneccessary..the childs head would 'pop'back into shape as they grew. The skull is still soft, forming, the brain pushes it out. we were very dubious but at the same time did'nt fancy the stress of him wearing a helmet. so we left it, and my wife would often cry when she was washing him in the bath and you could really see how out of shape it was. BUT..it did pop back out, just slowly grew out as the consultant had said. Now you would never notice.

Hi MissusM,

My son is 6 1/2 months old and has been in his STARband for 7weeks now. The improvement so far is absolutely amazing and I would recommend the treatment to anybody that was thinking of taking the helmet route. The treatment is very simple, we have had no complications as of yet. His measurements have gone down a huge amount already so hopefully he wont have much longer to go. I would be more than happy to go into more details with you if you required. I can honestly say that it was well worth the money spent. As written above some are very lucky that their heads do correct but it was a risk I was not prepared to take. Hope this helps you.

Hi Kath2006

I would love to know more about how your ds is doing, especially his reaction to the starband and any problems that you've found. I've been putting this decision off and want to get things sorted before it's too late but was worried how it would affect ds. My GP didn't know anything before I saw him and the HV's just said they saw lots of babies with the problem and ds wasn't as bad as some they'd seen! No help or guidance though, so any info on your experience would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
