walk in for tiny splinter?

Got a small splinter in my hand from a pine cone. Got most of it out except for a tiny bit the size of a pin prick.

I can't get that tiny bit out. It's slightly sore but that could be from trying to get it out with a needle.

Do I just leave it and see a doctor if it gets infected? Or go to walk in now and see if they can get it out?

I would not go in for that. I might bother the chemist if it gets infected. Often they work their way out.

Nah. I've done this plenty of times, just wait for it to work itself out - keep an eye out for infection but otherwise it'll pop out eventually.

You need drawing ointment from the chemist that will get out the rest of it.

Until then, keep it clean, put on antiseptic cream and a plaster.

Use a syringe, like the one that comes with cal poly these days. Suck it out with the suction from that, works a treat! Might want to YouTube it as I'm not sure how clear my explanation is.

If it's stopping you carrying about your daily business then go in. Otherwise, stag on, it will sort itself out.

Try putting honey on it with s plaster over it. Draws water out of the skin and ‘pushes’ splinter out.

Put a blister plaster on it, works like magic.

Supermagicsmile · 07/05/2018 22:17

Mag sulph will draw it out!

Thanks for all your help. I was staying with relatives over the weekend. who had none of things (not even honey!) and no nearby shops. I dabbed it with TCP every couple of hours and put a plaster on to reduce infection. The next morning I couldn't see it, so hopefully it has worked it's way out.
