Have you suffered from severe tiredness for years and...

Eventually found out the cause?

I have had really low energy for several years. I've finally been referred to an endo to look at some things further.

I'm so drained. I hope I finally get an answer.

What was the cause of yours after all that time?

not me, but I've read that story before. It seems like sometimes just knowing the cause, even if there is no cure, makes it more manageable. Bump for you in meantime.

GummyGoddess · 06/05/2018 18:00

I did, it was exercise. The more exercise the more awake I feel. However if you're being referred that suggests that maybe you might need some extra help?

OneDayIWillBeOrganised · 06/05/2018 18:01

Is tiredness your only symptom?

EleanorHooverbelt · 06/05/2018 18:02

Yes. Overwhelming tiredness that was not relieved by any amount of sleep. Diagnosis = sarcoidosis (an autoimmune disease).

There are many, many causes though, OP. So just get all the tests done and keep at the doctor until you get a solution.

travailtotravel · 06/05/2018 18:03

I'm guessing you've tried all the obvious stuff like Vit D etc?

Yes, recently diagnosed with lupus which has subsequently been downgraded to uctd

UnimaginativeUsername · 06/05/2018 18:17

Yes. But not just tiredness. Tiredness and joint pain. About 20 years after I first started going to the doctors about it, a rheumatologist diagnosed ankylosing spondylitis. (I’d seen several rheumatologists before who hadn’t diagnosed it).

SandysMam · 06/05/2018 18:17

Yep I did, kidney disease but that is easy to screen for so make sure your doc has run a kidney function test.

Zoflorabore · 06/05/2018 18:19

Yes, fibromyalgia but also accompanied by pain.

Good luck opFlowers

astoundedgoat · 06/05/2018 18:49

Someone close to me had this and was eventually diagnosed with Hepatitis C. She then died from a related illness. I have no idea why nobody thought to test her for this for so long.

Yarnswift · 06/05/2018 18:53

Severe exhaustion, joint pain and a general feeling something isn’t quite right.

Never found the root cause, doctor utterly unbothered...sort of stopped even trying to be honest, I think I’d just get labelled as ‘hysterical female’ if I pushed any more. DH keeps telling me to go back and be pushy, and I keep telling him that doesn’t work for women :/

EggysMom · 06/05/2018 18:58

Any difficulty shrugging off minor colds and coughs?

I'd ask your GP for a blood test to check your thyroid activity.

Ollivander84 · 06/05/2018 18:58

Yes, autoimmune neutropenia. I'm still tired but at least I know why!

eurochick · 06/05/2018 19:34

I'm following this. I'm the same. I've had various tests over the years which have found nothing but low ferritin (not anaemia). Iron supplements help a bit but I'm still exhausted. I'm 42 and I first asked for tests in my 20s!

JackietheBackie · 06/05/2018 19:54

Yup, sleep apnoea. Slept loads, always felt like shit. Now better but overweight and underfit so not as energetic as I could be. However as the underlying exhaustion is finally easing (after nearly a year of treatment) am ready to start embracing the lifestyle to improve that.

AnneLovesGilbert · 06/05/2018 19:56

Yes. B12 deficiency. I don't absorb it from food and now have regular injections which has changed my life.

CocoaGin · 06/05/2018 19:59

It was diabetes with me (type 2). I had every cough/cold virus known to man, was permanently ill, tired and run down. And would sleep from 10pm to 8am every night.

I'm now on medication, have changed my diet and feel absolutely amazing, I haven't been ill for well over a year. I take a multivitamin every day (Floradix) and walk around 3-4 miles a day with the dog. DH said the other day that it's like having a new wife.

TenancyTroublesAgain · 06/05/2018 20:31

@EggysMom yeah, in fact I've been ill with 'colds' that dragged on for MONTHS over and over for the last 2-3 years. Two rounds of antibiotics they gave me this time... Before that I rarely got a cold.

In fact I have an endo appointment coming up to investigate a similar to thyroid condition, I will make sure I get the thyroid checked fully too.

BestIsWest · 06/05/2018 22:02

Yes, Primary Hyperparathyroidism.

Lots and f ther symotoms. Took me about 15 years to get diagnosed.

Nothing to do with thyroid btw.

leeloo1 · 06/05/2018 22:06

High dose vitamin d spray has helped me.

InternetBuffoon · 07/05/2018 11:22

Fibromyalgia
Vitamin B12 deficiency
Vitamin D deficiency

Still knackered
