Salt (eating, not special needs...) - Help!

How much is too much pure salt????

Was on the phone to a client... got off to find DS in the (usually safe) lounge - pouring salt onto the PC and licking it off

There was salt everywhere, around his mouth was covered, he was pulling at his mouth so it obv didn't taste good (but that doesn't tend to stop him eating things). He gulped down a lot of water and has now gone to sleep.

Should I be concerned? I have no idea how much salt can make him poorly, and how much just thirsty.

I am not an expert, but I do remember that when this was in the news (the Gays and the salt poisoning, that wasn't salt poisoning) one of the experts said that it would be impossible to get a child to ingest enough salt to hurt them, as they would be sick.

If you are worried, call your hv or the hospital.

I've caught mine doing this lots of times, Flame. Keep an eye on him, but I wouldn't worry unduly.

My ds is such a sweaty little boy, that sometimes I wonder whether he does it because he actually needs a bit. I always use Lo-Salt, however.

Oh that sounds familiar squonk.

Glad its not just mine RR!!!

I'll keep an eye on him... and DH

I swear that child is going to be living in a playpen at this rate - the second I turn my back he is breaking down the barrier and climbing up the chimney/pulling down books/eating salt... a big pen always sounded harsh to me, but its gettin mroe and more tempting by the day!!
