Hi everyone I’m desperately looking for advice or experiences from anyone who’s been through this or may know?
So nearly 2 months ago I went to my GP with awful back pain, fever, chills, headache etc. I got diagnosed with a kidney infection. After my course of antibiotics I felt fine but the back pain was still there, since then it’s been getting worse and worse to the point right now it’s a very severe pain - I can’t bend down or do anything without being in agony! I’m only 20 years old so I should not be getting back pain like this. I’ve just got back from my gp again today, she felt my back and where about it’s hurting and just told me she thinks it’s muscular and to take ibrufen and wait for it to go. My question is , if it came on with a kidney infection how could it be muscular pain now? She even said I was too young to be getting muscular back pain this bad. I’m worried that if it is my kidneys still then I’m leaving it too long to get it sorted out! (She took a urine infection today which was fine) I’m at my wits end the pain is so bad!!! Sorry for the long post but was just wondering if anyone had been through this before? Thanks

I might be wrong and I'm no doctor, but it may not have been a kidney infection to start off with. There are inflammatory conditions that cause fever, chills and headache. I'd ask your doc for blood tests next.

You can get back pain at any age. I think your GP is highly likely to be able to tell the difference between kidney trouble and back pain.

You probably need to do some simple exercises to sort it out. Where I live you can refer yourself to a physio or get your GP to refer you.

The type of thing your physio will tell you to do:

One of the basic exercises is to go on all fours, as if you are pretending to be a dog. Then arch your back as if you are a cat who’s seen a dog. Then arch your back the opposite way. The other classic exercise is lie on floor, knees to chest and roll your knees to each side.

Good luck!

Thanks for your comment! I had a urine test and blood tests the first time i went which clarified a kidney infection xx

Thanks so much for your comment :) I did get a form to self refer myself for physio. I will try those exercises you suggested, thanks again!
