Vitamin D deficiency - when did you start feeling better?

My baby is a year old, and I breastfed to 8 months. I haven’t actually felt ‘well’ since I was about 6 months pregnant. I am constantly exhausted and could sleep non-stop if allowed. My mood is low and I have no inclination to do anything. Since Christmas I have had back-to-back viral infections and two bacterial infections requiring antibiotics. This is unprecedented for me.

I eventually managed to get the GP to take me seriously and I have since been told that my vitamin D levels are very low, and as a result my calcium levels are low too. I have been prescribed a strong supplement, with instructions to ‘take x dose for the first year (!!) and then y dose after that’. This was all communicated by phone.

Is it going to take me a year to feel better again?? Has anyone been in a similar situation who can advise?

Thanks

Can't advise I am afraid but I took vit d a few months last year (I suffer from depression among other things) and I do (anecdotally) think it helped a little.

I've just bought in some more and am going to try it again. So I guess we'll both see if it works.

make sure you take the strong drops in oil or with a meal that contains at least 14g of fat as you ned fat to absorb the vitamin

I was put on a superdosing course and felt better maybe after 2 months or so

I can deal with 2 months, that’s a relief. I did some research myself when the GP first suggested checking my vitamin D, and as I read the list of symptoms they all fit completely. I really hope I haven’t done any permanent damage, but it’s near impossible to get a face-to-face with my GP and I feel like this isn’t serious enough to take an appointment.

Yes, two month is about the time it took me to start noticing improvements. That was about half way through my superdosing (thanks for the word) course.
As you are not menopausal you don't need the K+D combination.
