Hand tremor

noitsachicken · 27/04/2018 14:26

I have developed a minor tremor in my right hand.
I had surgery on this wrist last year, so assuming it might be related to that?
It’s concerning me, but doesn’t seem worthy of a GP appointment.
Any experience or ideas please?
Thanks

If it's concerning you then of course it's worth a GP visit. Call them. No one over the Internet can diagnose or advise you.

I have had tremors for years - it's called benign essential tremor and is completely harmless but bloody embarrassing as people always think I'm either hungover or really nervous or both. It runs in families. But since you've had surgery it's worth checking.

Treatment for BET is a drink or two (muscle relaxant) or for serious cases, botox in the shoulder area.

Oh - thanks for that TQ. I've had a tremor since my mid-60s. Have never had it investigated because my mother and grandfather had the same. I've just lived with it up till now, but it's really beginning to annoy me. It's getting difficult to eat with a knife and fork and I'm so clumsy that it's embarrassing to eat out with friends etc. Not a pleasure any more. I'd rather have a sandwich or a burger.

Didn't know about the Botox. Will ask my GP about it.

I turned down the botox Thymeout as I didn't want to put poison into my body ha ha. Not sure if I could have it now, with chemo. I hate the fact that I can't eat scrambled egg from a fork any more... and like you, don't like eating with people. In hindsight, I wish I'd had it. Let me know how you get on if you go for it!
