Spot on my face isn’t healing. Been there since January!

I’ll begin by saying I have a history of health anxiety and have had it under control the last few months.

I have a spot on my face that has been there since January. This morning it dawned on me that it’s been there ages and it seems as though it improves a little then comes back out again. Having looked back on pictures I can see it’s been there since January. My health anxiety is creeping back in and I’m thinking worst case scenario.

I’m wondering if anyone else has had a stubborn spot that has turned out to be nothing more than just a spot?

I really don’t want to see the GP yet as I’ve been a bit of a time waster with them in the past.

It very much just looks like a pimple. Thanks for any help/advice.

I had a sore on my face that never healed for a year!! Noticed it on a holiday pic and realised it was still there!! Dgs had a bout of impetigo and used his cream on it and it went away!! Had never gotten bigger just hadn't healed.

Picture of said spot, it has a couple of smaller ones around it so I’m hoping that’s a good sign.

I’m not prone to spots.

That’s reassuring april it’s just so strange that it won’t just heal up.

I just been to the dr's last week about an area of skin on my face. She wasn't worried but v kindly gave me a referal because of my mental health/OCD/health anxiety. My appt is next Thursday. If you are worried go see your GP. It's 10 mins of their time and never a waste of time. Make an appt you'll feel so much better after.

That's a burst blood vessel, I have the same thing in Almost the exact same place but the opposite side. I also have health anxiety and convinced myself it was skin cancer!
Unfortunately mine has never faded I've had it a couple of years now, I just cover it with concealer.
Get yourself to a doctor to have it confirmed, obviously, but I'm 99% sure that's what they'll say it is.

I'm with PinkPolly on this. I'd say it's harmless. I've a few like it for years.

SunshineIsComing · 25/04/2018 19:50

I don't think I'll go to the doctors. It's only a spot and looks very much like a pimple. Whenever I'm next there for something more important I'll mention it and see what they say. Thank you for your help & reassurance Smile

Does it flare up at certain times of the month? I used to get a hormonal spot in the same place.

Cantchooseaname · 25/04/2018 19:55

I’m sure a pharmacist could have a quick look- and maybe help put your mind at rest!

Sorry but i am going against the crowd here.

Make sure to point it to the GP next time you go and ask them to exclude it is the early stage of a basal cell carcinoma. The bcc are not dangerous or life threatening, but it is better to deal with them early as they can be harder to eradicate with bigger scar the more you wait.

A pimple that doesn't go away is one of the signs.

TuTru · 25/04/2018 23:22

You ought to get it checked, I’m not going to give you my father’s whole story but we all wish he’d got his checked way sooner than he did. By the time we found out it was skin cancer it was too late for him to do anything about it. That was in his face. If it’s worrying you, get it checked. There’s nurses and mole clinics, or ring 111 but I know I’d get it checked out xx

TuTru · 25/04/2018 23:25

Also a basal cell carcinoma is rarely life threatening indeed but it can be, and for my dad it was. A cancer that rarely spreads to other areas did, and when it did it went in big. It could’ve been removed much sooner and never have spread so aggressively. So get it checked out xx

KingIrving · 25/04/2018 23:34

Oh sorry about your father TuTru , Flowers yes bcc risk is so low, you can even donate bone marrow with a history of bcc. I should have said "almost never" life threatening .

SunshineIsComing · 26/04/2018 07:04

See, it's gone right down again today, it's now just a slight red mark. It will no doubt come up again but I'm sure that in itself probably rules out some of the more serious possible causes.

Probably does, but better to know for sure I think xx
