Advice regarding blood test results for exhaustion

I have been to the gp for several things, mental health is on of them, I am also waiting to see an endocrinologist because I am in early menopause. One of the main things is my sheer & total exhaustion, I already am diagnosed with very lovel Vit D so am on supplements, full bloods were ordered and the results were all deemed normal - they were this:

Serum B12 - 474 ng/L (I already take a one a day Vit B12 tablet)
Serum Folate - 6.1 ug/L
Serum Free T4 12.3 PMOL/l
Serum TSH 0.9 mu/L
Serum Ferritin 10ug/L

Should I raise these test results with the endo when I see them? I keep hearing an advert about some iron medicine - can I just take it & see if it helps? I am sure I read somewhere that you shouldn't take iron supplements...

Yes, yes, yes.

Ask your endo about secondary hypothyroidism and also ask him what he is going to do about your ferritin result, which is so disgracefully low that it is no wonder you are exhausted.

@timeistight thanks for the reply, I did ask the gp but she said everything was fine - I am exhausted and cannot lose weight no matter what i try!

Please don't panic re the ferritin just yet! Different labs use different assays - each one will have a slightly different normal range (different places also use nano grams/ml vs micrograms/ml which can add to the confusion). There's no reason for your GP to try to mislead you about it so I'd be reassured that it's ok.

Going through the menopause can make you feel knackered. Some mental health problems can make you feel knackered. Vit D deficiency can make you feel knackered.

oops... should read ng/ml or mcg/L

Thanks - I shall mention it at the appt and see what is said
