coming off prozac - how long does withdrawal last?

hi all

Not sure if anyone will be able to help me with this.

Have been weaning myself off Prozac and finally took my last dose 7 days ago. For the last week I have felt awful, terrible stomach pains, blurred vision, ratty, sooo tierd, headachey and really nauseous - and it just seems to be getting worse and worse! I keep thinking these must be side effects of withdrawal and they must be reaching a peak now BUT they don't seem to be abating.

Has anyone else experienced this and tell me is this normal? and if so how long will it go on for?

I really really want to come off these drugs, I feel good emotionally but just feeling so ill is making me want to take another prozac just to make all the symptoms go away.

(just for info: have been on 40mg and come off them v v slowly in accordance with doctor)

Thanks

you need to redce dose slowly, take one every other day than every 3 days. the withdrawal effects are horribel, but will pass. I would seek advice from your gp

See your doctor tomorrow.

It took me several months to wean off completely by gradually reducing dosage.

I've never tried to stop cold turkey.

Doesn't sound a good idea.

sorry, don't think i made it clear I have NOT gone cold turkey. I have discussed it with my doctor and have VERY SLOWLY reduced my dose from 40mg to nothing over a period of 5 months. I took my last dose a week ago after weaning myself right down. I did have some milder side effects everytime i dropped a dose but they weren't as bad as this.
