To tell the doctor what I think it is?

Asking some advice really;

I've been quite run down alot over the last 9 months with recurring infections, stomach bugs all sorts.

More recently I've started bruising really easily and been more exhausted than normal with accompanying weight loss .

For a long time I've had thyroid issues (underactive)

I'm becoming concerned about thyroid cancer or leukemia. I'm not sure whether to say this to the doctor or just to state my newer symptoms and see what they suggest?

I find it more useful to say what I'm worried about but be guided by the doctor. Hope its something less serious.

More likely to be something more ordinary than 'the worst'.
"Could it be related to my thyroid problems?" is reasonable.

I would state my symptoms first then state my worries after.
Asking for a blood test would be very reasonable

I thought a blood test would be a good port of call and hopefully put my mind at ease!Confused

One GP I've seen starts off with 'what do you think it is?', not in a sarcastic way but because it's useful info so would definitely ask if what you suspect could be a possibility.

From your symptoms you would hope they would think to test thyroid themselves, but from experience that isn’t often the case! I’ve pointed out obvious symptom for a hereditary condition that family members also have, with a history pointing towards it, at a time likely to cause thyroid problems and still had it dismissed. Insist on the test if they don’t get there under their own steam..

I’ve had the same thing this week with B12, had to push for the series of injections that I know will make me feel better and potentially prevent serious future health problems. GP was a bit hesitant but I kept saying that I know my symptoms will be alleviated, as they have in the past, and that I would really like to be in the higher end of the normal range, not scraping in at the bottom!
